Again: leave it for us to decide.
Again: leave it for us to decide.
The aliens look like CGI white tiger scorpion spiders? That could be, uh, fun? And not at all a boring slog oh god who am I kidding ...
I can see that you mean well, but as a self-described cis/het, I’m not sure why you’re trying to police the shit out of what is appropriate or offensive to trans/gay audiences. The OP’s point (don’t be cruel) hits the nail on the head. No gays I know (myself included) give a f*ck if you tell gay jokes as long as they…
I’m one episode behind and getting all kinds of anxious. My mind starts going to crazy places, like I’m pretty sure I’ve considered the possibility that Jean Smart is murdering everyone.
Well said! I’ve seen Patti wandering in downtown NYC like twenty times, and she always looks exactly like that.
The idea the including and presenting gays was an opportunity 30 years ago is, uh, an interesting notion.
I’m not sure why you need to shit on Madonna to point out that Lil Nas X is killing it.
Ahh, no! I love Mare and I didn’t even place them on the soundtrack. It makes me happy they’ve gotten popular (or popular enough for a music nerd to select them for Mare), which feels so unlikely given their sound isn’t exactly something that grabs you by the ears. Well, it does, but very gently.
Honestly the first thing that popped into my mind was Big Pimpin, which is probably not the ideal response for a mayoral candidate. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t...
I’ve been listening to Big Thief all day. Multiple albums on repeat while I cleaned and did a bit of work. I love Big Thief. I cannot name a single Big Thief song. I’d have to fully guess, like ... Dreamy Tree Song? Kinda Hazy Bittersweet Memory? Is that a song?
Yes! I wondered if they cast Julianne Moore (60 years old!) because younger actresses looked too young playing against a super-adult-looking teenage son.
Between her and Jerry, who himself is a mean sunnuvabishh, that is one (no doubt quirky) car I would not like to be in.
I was thinking of those Ashley Judd movies from the early aughts. I liked ‘em! In a popcorn-y, watch-once-and-never-think-about-it-again way.
That MJ documentary spent a lot of time going over the work he did with the parents to build trust, make them comfortable, ingratiate himself with the family, etc. But yes, they should know better.
Rebranded as The Girlie Show.
she was in The New Mutants and it was worse than any given episode of Mad TV (which was a fine show, let’s be fair here).
Hah, I suspect it’s a damned if you do situation, where if she nailed the authentic accent people would say she went waaaay over the top. I sometimes hear little old ladies in NYC with fabulous accents and suspect if you copied them it’d be like “ok calm dowwwnn.”
My brain immediately went to Cate Blanchett (not a Brit, but still) who consistently goes to a super-flat AMERICAN accent in, well, everything, and then steps on the gas to just kinda force it through. Winslet’s work feels much more internalized.
I think it works! She manages to find a balance of being specific without tipping into camp or theatricality. I’m curious how a local would judge it. I’m originally from rural MN, and when people attempt the Fargo accent it sounds like aliens speaking as humans, so I get it.
Here for itttt! I’ll watch all ten episodes just to spend time with that cast.
