A Taylor Swift biopic sounds insufferable. That said, Taylor is privileged, surely, but I think that she really made good on that headstart. She seems enormously talented.

I can’t say I’m not thinking similar thoughts, but there are movies about young people all the time. Isn’t “Lady Bird” essentially a dramatization of the filmmaker’s final year of high school? You might say that movie was about an 18 year old who didn’t do jack shit. I mean, I guess. If Greta Gerwig, can look back at

Yeah, I am surprised that this project is even a possibility. It might get scrapped due to her story not being cinematic enough.

College essays: Yeah, they are often bullshit, but they certainly create a lot of anxiety among students. I remember in HS, the University of California’s essay topic was specifically, “How would you bring diversity to a college?” A lot of white and Asian kids had massive anxiety over that one. I can certainly see the

I can’t say I think you’re wrong, and I am sure she will have to contend with this idea when marketing her movie. But there are fictional movies about young people all the time.

Yes, the Eminem parallels are stark. In the clip she is pretty much reacting to Stan. I would love to see an early 2000's Eminem make this little speech.

OMG. When I first saw this, I thought the women were just bored with Bill Cosby. And then, I understood.

Doesn’t “Q” stand for “questioning”? I was surprised that questioning was added as a category. I teach high school, including AVID, which is a very fun class centered around college applications and preparation. My students were shocked to hear what Q represents. I was really dreading somebody asking, “So, if Q stands

How tall are you? It seems unlikely that you will not be able to get through most normal sized doors if you are wearing high heels.

Yeah, I didn’t see that movie but I am aware of it. Isn’t that what Silja is referencing below in the comments? Apparently there is a major difference between these two topics. Well, I guess I’ll have to see the movie. I have thought some topics were unfilmable, and then later enjoyed the movie.

Hi, I am responding to this 5 years later, and you, Howlingfrog, don’t seem to have an active account anymore, but here goes:

Yeah, I am wondering how they are going to frame this story. Then again, there’s a lot of movies about seemingly unfilmable subjects: The Social Network, Moneyball, Julia Child.

I kind of wonder how cinematic this topic really is. Then again, I thought the same thing about the Anita Hill-Clarence Thomas story, and I enjoyed “Confirmation.” I hope Brad Pitt is a character in this movie.

It might seem arbitrary, but I am in favor of banning pajama pants in the classroom, or really anywhere in public. Even in college I thought it was gross when people would walk across campus in pajamas.

I wonder if boxed wine will lose its stigma as people seek out move value. More and more restaurants and bars are going with wine on draft as not having to deal with bottles, labels, and corks saves money for wineries and restaurants, and the savings get passed onto the consumer. I wonder what would happen if I go to

Wow, that is amazing. Especially considering how Sosa’s career changed so massively between 1990 and 2005. Also with how the game changed so much during that time: interleague play, the wildcard, 4 expansion teams, the influx of Asian players, fantasy baseball, retro stadiums, etc.

And its interesting that Orosco was a Dodger in 1988, left for 13 years, and then comes back, and that is when he faces Mark Grace again.

Wow. Grace was a rookie in 1988, and they matched up twice that year. It is possible that in 2001, Orosco would have no memory of ever facing Grace.

I actually ran into Jesse Orosco a year ago. I wish I had brought this up, he probably has at least a vague memory of the 12 year difference in Bonds matchups.

I wonder what is the record for longest time between plate appearances between a hitter and a pitcher?
