There are some kid-friendly games like Minecraft and Pokémon that would qualify, but I’ve got a sneaking suspicion much of their playerbases are gamers in their 20s and 30s who grew up with them.

Can’t argue with any of that, but I’d love this generation to get the chance to choose.

It’s a bummer to see the state it’s in. The first three or so years was one of the easiest 10/10 experiences for me; as someone who normally doesn’t play FPS or competitive online games, it was a daily thing to hop on and get locked in, and in a true game-like feeling, wanting to push myself to be a player and teammate…

Ultimately, the people who care enough to complain and/or keep up with news to this degree almost always pales in comparison to the more casual population that just sees an update come through for their favorite games and just plays it and maybe buys the season pass or a skin.

I always think about the L4D2 controversy. A bunch of steam players made a boycott group, and then on launch day the majority of the group were playing the game. 

Same boat, uninstalled entire battle.net launcher. OW1 wasn’t perfect, but my god was it a much better game (and product) for consumers vs OW2.

The problem is a lot of the younger gamers only know this sort of expliotation. They weren’t around for when you bought a game and that was it for nearly every game that came out. My friends and I used to play Overwatch nearly nightly but we’ve all bounced off so hard from OW2. We rarely play and when we do everyone is just sour on the game. We used to point out the new skins and events and get all excited but now nobody cares because we’ll never get the new skins because you only unlock them…

You don’t think it’s a bit much for this amount of content?  There’s so many other games or even just expansion content where you get a lot more for your money spent.

sYeah, but it was probably presumed we would pay 40-60 dollars for a full fledged PvE game, not what is looking to be $15 for piecemeal installments of questionable quality and pared back content.

Stuff like this is why I scratched my head a little over complaints of Cyberpunk’s Phantom Liberty’s cost at $30.  Yeah, you get better value paying twice that for a full game, but it’s still such a better model than how the service model works.

I’d say that most people would be totally happy paying for a full Story Mode.

I wouldn't neccesarily minded paying for the original vision. But killing the original vision and then announcing you're charging for a neutered version is kinda BS

Right! It’s funny how these AI guru’s keep claiming that the technology they’re working on is an imminent threat to humanity. If that’s true stop working on it. The real reason they’re sounding the alarm is, as you said, to enact legislation favorable to their profit making and to freeze out competitors. Gotta love…

The primary use of this legislation would be to setup a regulatory environment that would make it difficult, if not impossible, for anyone but a well-heeled corporation to do any work or research in the field.

Yeah, it was frustrating. They just kept screwing with the balance because this one guy did this improbable move this one time in some tournament somewhere, whoops better cut Widowmaker’s non-headshot damage in half and make Reaper even more of a pain in the ass. I guess at least Diablo doesn’t have an “esports” scene…

100%. I deleted OW2 from my PS5 after the first “season” because it was such an absolute mess that it was causing anger and stress instead of just being fun like the original. I haven’t looked back since. But if OW1 came back, I’d definitely be queuing up that download immediately.
