Yeah I remember people describing the “social” aspects of this game, and finding that completely baffling. Because I don’t know if I’ve ever directly communicated with a random player. I’ve definitely had more communications in PUBG, and I leave my mic muted most of the time in that game :/

Probably because you’ve not come across many at all, because there really aren’t that many. Borderlands is the only one I can think of off the top of my head, and it definitely does loot better.

Last year I tried streaming for a month, and I used a camera. The fact that I lasted a month tell you all you need to know about the kind of behavior on the part of my viewers. Everything I’ve experienced IRL or even just using voice chat in games utterly pales in comparison.

As someone who never played the first and has been playing it on PC since release... I really have no idea where the hype for this game comes from. Take any individual element of this game - campaign, multiplayer, loot, etc. - and you could find any number of games that does it better.

There’s not much to it, I guess? You spawn, you run in, maybe get a few kills, get shot in the back, respawn, and repeat. I never got the sense that my individual actions were making that much of a difference in the tide of the battle.
