There is no memory *leak* (i.e. "Maybe someday they'll find that them there darn leak and we'll be happy!") there are leaks, plural. Mozilla has, for more than a year now, been hunting them down and Firefox now beats all the other browsers for memory usage.

If that pref ever goes away, there will likely be an addon replacement available.
