And how is the memory on those cartridges working out? A lot of those cartridges that save progress can’t do it anymore. You can change the battery, but capacitors die too. Plenty of cartridges suffer from bit rot. CDs and DVDs have an expected lifespan of about 20 years.

Based on this, if a game is ever patched at any point in time, you cry because you can’t get the patch 20 years down the line. Hate to break it to you, but at that point it will be hard to find working consoles of this generation to begin with.
