@Oli4k: From what I can find, it was built in 1972 by Michelin for use on their test tracks. It had two Chevy V8s, one to power the car and one to power the test tire in the middle of the car. It was called the PLR 1000 (PLR = poids lourd rapide = fast heavy truck) or Milles-Pattes. In any case the rear three

@Oli4k: This is the bottom of a model but you can see the placement of the test tire in the center.

@Novaload: From what I can find on the net they kept the regular hydraulic suspension for it when they built it. Don't know how beefed up it might be though, considering it weighed something like 10 tons!

@koolykool44: Nitrous is not allowed on the Salt Flats.

The unspoken (except for a brief nod in last year's post by Ben) part of what keeps bringing people back to Bonneville is how pure and how stunningly beautiful the place and the cars can be. It's magical in some strange way and it's the salt that makes it so surreal. All Jalops owe it to themselves to go at least

Sexier than this:

@tapz: Nah, that's where the caked on salt has falled off. They probably had a big chunk of salt hanging there that wouldn't have looked as good in the shot so they knocked it off.

@NightElfMohawk: No shit. I kept waiting for the tornado but it never came. That just looked like wind and rain to me. "It's funnelling! It's totally funnelling!!"

@SpicyMeatball: My thoughts exactly. I'll take one in size large.

So THAT'S what those were called! Back when they were new I used to see one parked on the lot of the RV dealer near where I lived. It was there for a really long time and I always thought it looked special.

Those gear changes, wow.

Yes please.

@s1102879: Ridiculous? In what part of the police handbook would it be listed as acceptable to climb onto the hood of a vehicle and kick the windshield in? Windshields aren't even particularly easy to get through, so why would you even think to attempt it when you have all the other side windows at your disposal

@urabus: Actually, since I frequently read the comments first before watching the videos, I managed to watch THIS video first! Thanks!

@s1102879: Why would we do that? Regardless of whether or not he did anything the officers felt was wrong they were still far, far out of line. Period.
