If they’re unsafe to release, that’s not a punishment issue, that’s a containment issue. That I can understand; that’s a practical matter. I also leave some room for deterrence arguments, although I think a lot of crime is too animal hindbrain motivated for it to be a primary strategy.

Ultimately I’d like to see a more fundamentally therapeutic, restorative justice style take. Try to mold her into someone who can rejoin society.
