Maybe that’s the “extreme” shit she’s doing now, strangling sea turtles.

Yeah, I really only think her first album is a country album in any real sense. The shift to pop was gradual and started quite early.

I was under the impression she didn’t have a lot of choice about the R&B thing, lack of creative control early on. She doesn’t seem to be quite as pissed about it as, say, Al from Ministry is about their synthpop beginnings, but I don’t get the sense it was ever really her jam.

Besides, are we really going to call

So true. “Real” pop tastes strange to me now.

For you, maybe. Not all of us have bodies that respond well to that. When I have real sugars my triglycerides go through the roof and I have painful bacterial breakouts on my skin. I’ll take the scary chemicals, thanks.

Sorcery

Seriously, 60+% in a two way election is a landslide.

Sisters of Mercy did a superb goth rock take on it back in the 80s.

Realpolitik as theory’s at least as old as Nixon, and in practice probably as old as large agricultural civilizations. This isn’t super novel. If anything, it’s good to read that someone in the administration has some geopolitical understanding, even if it might not be what we’d do.

Yeah, MSP here. We just got snow yesterday.

She was a major crush of mine through puberty at the turn of the millenium and it’s like, I’m almost thirty and the older I get, she stays the same. It’s fuckin’ magic yo. So yeah, I think that’s a big part of it. But she definitely still does stuff.

So did I, from what I saw of it, but I ain’t got time for a full series. I really don’t.

I didn’t mean to suggest it was a lone root cause; I agree, there’s a lot of negative forces in a toxic soup here.

I think you’re right that it being garbage wasn’t what did it in, it was homophobia, but that doesn’t make Isitme wrong about it being garbage. It was a lame show, like most sitcoms, sexual politics aside.

Agreed. People have had twenty years to ruminate on it. One would expect a certain amount of changed opinions and attitudes in that span of time on any given subject.

Their lives don’t sound much like the album. The album’s got a slick pop finish that I really am into, but the group live sounds a lot less like pop-era Swift and a lot more like they’re channeling the Eagles or something.

Underrated post.

Eh, I’m sure someone would flip a shit, but I think I’m actually pretty comfortable with that as an alternative for people who might otherwise harm an actual child.

I think you’re hitting the nail on the head here. There’s a lot of loneliness in the demand for these.

It’s not megalomaniac AIs you need to worry about; it’s paperclip maximizers.
