This, it’s hypocritical. It’s great that we have an immigrant First Lady of non-Anglophone origins for the first time; it’s just painfully ironic that her husband’s such a xenophobe.

I don’t get it either. Want to explain for the heathens?
Him running probably didn’t come out of left field, but him winning probably did.
Eh, might be worth a watch
That’s bullshit. The Aphrodite album in 2010 was flame
That’s one of the few things she’s done I haven’t been into, honestly. The subject matter just kind of gave me a bad feel.
I don’t know what specifically you’re referring to, but that doesn’t ping my moral compass as particularly evil.
This district is definitely not at risk. I live in it and am not at all worried on that count.
I’m in his district. I love the guy, but we have zero chance of losing his seat. The area’s basically all hippies and immigrants, and we’ve got plenty of up and coming political talent. Ilhan Omar’s maybe a bit too conciliatory towards the deplorables for me, but she’d make a fine US Rep.
She’s changed and learned over the years much more than any actual politician has. There are a lot of places where 2016-17 Steinem is not on the same page as 60s-70s Steinem. Maybe that’s a luxury of being on the outside, but I think it’s admirable and refreshing.
I’m in his district. We have literally zero chance of losing his seat. It’s basically split between Portlandia-ish Longfellow in South Minneapolis and Little Mogadishu up in Cedar Riverside. Replacing him with another lefty with strong racial justice credentials is going to be trivial.
I’m in Ellison’s district and know and like him. Sell me on some of these other people. What’s the deal with this Perez guy?
Yeah, I suspect most Americans know there was at least one world war we were involved with and probably not more than three. Beyond that I suspect things are shaky.
I turned out all right and I actually did. Granted, I was seven and had no idea what it meant; I just thought it looked cool. Kids do dumb stuff, man.
I’m not sure that’s inconsistent with a reluctance to incarcerate. It’s much more short term, much cheaper and doesn’t reinforce the negative behavior.
Now this is thinking with portals
With Comey at the wheel? Could be a while.
They seem to be more into the Crusades metaphor.

These are virtually all states that voted for Clinton. I think the only major airport of entry from the Mideast that isn’t is ATL.
