Yes, an early tech demo of an emerging technology that’s using an already dated voice synthesis program does sounds pretty robotic. It’s crappy right now, but in the future the possibility of having NPCs that can actually react and grow organically based on the player’s actions is absolutely incredible.

It won’t create compelling dialogue, ever. It will always be nothing more than a Rorschach test. You can see something in there, but only what you put in. It has no real meaning.

My kid had me watch the series that came before this - Helluva Boss or something like that. It had great character design, cool aesthetics, and generally high production values. But it was insanely, ridiculously crude - every other joke was about ass fucking, cum or blowjobs. I’m no prude but the shock value wore off…

I really strongly disagree! “Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” is such a clumsy mouthful on its face, and was derided long before we all had our childhoods stamped on when learning what said skull actually was.

Changing the color of your skin isn’t inherently racist yet people act like it is.

People can be upset about multiple things you know. And individual people are very different with different likes and dislikes so lumping them all together as a monolith is kind of silly. 

I was more speaking from like.... an investor infrastructure POV. Your whole system relies on that specific game/IP being “popular” (or popular enough to have a player base large enough to profit from). The bulk of the community could move to a new game in a matter of weeks if something deemed “better” comes out.
