It’s fun. I enjoyed it. I thought it was limited, but sometimes things don’t need to be more than that to make them valid.

The question that we should be pondering:

It’s not a bland movie. It’s a fun kids film that revels in it’s own lore and knows their target audience does too. Its the reason the audience score is so high while the review score so low. Everyone going to see this knows what a blue shell is. They know who Diddy kong is and know the donkey kong rap. Meanwhile…

Lovecraft has been dead for 80 years, the problem with endlessly milking the Potter franchise is that it gives money to a hatemonger who openly and actively funnels it into harming a minority group.

The difference is that Lovecraft is dead and his works are out of copyright. No one’s enriching him by engaging with his stories.

I have some friends who have seen it with their kids and all of them said it was perfectly fine and enjoyed it while their kids loved it.

As a game no, but at this point the characters are culturally identifiable/profitable enough outside of the games that it doesn’t matter. See also: Pac-Man, Bendy and the Ink Machine, Cuphead, etc.

It is entirely accurate to state that. The entire justification for things like the “Don’t Say Gay” bill in Florida, and the “trans children indicate parental abuse” bullshit in Texas is this inflated fear over “groomers”.

It’s a huge merger, and huge mergers are ultimately bad for consumers, especially in already-rapidly consolidating industry like video games, to say nothing of the employees that will undoubtedly get laid off after the merger is approved. It’s not about just CaLl oF DUtY.
