I’m interested in seeing what comes out of these investigations into Robinhood, etc. But my first thought was that they were shutting down trading out of fear of the investigations, bad press, etc., that will come when the bubble eventually bursts. I agree that the markets are stacked in favor of the rich finance

I generally like my coworkers, which is good, because (pre-covid, at least) I’m around them a lot and talk to them a lot, and to some extent those interactions shape my continuing sense of identity and well being. Imagine if, 8 hours a day, all your conversation was randos on your Twitch chat saying stupid things to

👏👏👏

Not to split the baby, but I thought this was an interesting opinion and well argued, but also enjoyed the quippy retort. Everyone is a winner

And then waxing poetic about the hubris of man to wear a thong and wield a chain whip against the dark lord of the sith; really, we just thought it allowed for some very striking thematic juxtaposition

The first twin joystick console FPS I played was Timesplitters for PS2. It was inverted. I was bad at it and the inversion was weird, but then I got used to it, and now I have to invert everything. So it goes

If this actually works properly, i would subscribe to try sea of thieves and a few other interesting games on my chromebook, as someone who doesn't have an xbox

I’m pretty sure real poké balls wouldn’t use rechargeable batteries. Rather, they would draw energy from the pockets dimensions used to imprison trapped Pokémon, naturally

Yah, this sounds very similar to Celeste with its hidden strawberries. It's a very good game. I'm sure this is good too!

I like that the list is primarily Miyazaki films. It also seems reasonable that universally adored artworks by auteur directors should not (or need not) be remade into other mediums by other people

Nice.

Brain flash: new 3D Mario game, but it’s all ice levels. No checkpoints, and as you near the end of each level (smaller and smaller platforms) you’re increasingly attacked by birds or bees or lakitus or similar enemies

The art style for this game looks somewhere between (1) stylish and pretty and (2) somewhat low budget and PS2-era-seeming. Mixed feelings!

Wow! Someone wildly misunderstood the tone and purpose of this lighthearted blog post and responded with some real pedantic shit

But but but like 30-40m into a round my underarms get sweaty and I forget to blink and then when I finish the round I am REALLY worked up, which is NOT relaxing

I hate irony!!!! To me the world is wide and flat and appreciated purely at the surface level with no undue exploration of contingencies or context

I do not tolerate any politics in my video games or in my video game reporting, and I for one congratulate Kotaku writer Ash Parish for this excellent piece of short memoiristic game writing that contains no political subtext whatsoever

Terrible/incredible

Came here to echo this. Good little piece of memoir. I also got very good at shutting down the console and opening a textbook when I heard the car pull in. Since I was an only child to a single mother, it was a regular game of cat and mouse.
