The article does make it sound like he went $500,000 into debt showing people his collectible antique game console, and so now he’s upset that his sale will only break even. I won’t judge him for his choices, but his statements also don’t inspire much sympathy.
Also Dead Cells. Look at Dark Souls, Dead Cells, and Hollow Knight together: all three are games about a melancholy world of former decadence that has fallen to shambles based on some spreading corruption; you, a half-living haunt, must end that corruption through a cycle of infinite death, using tight combat controls…
Counterpoint: Hollow Knight, Nioh, Fallen Order, Bloodborne
As he said, this isn’t a list of the decade’s most important games. It’s one (somewhat ambiguous) narrative that he’s tracing through five games.
This is a very sweet story.
Counterpoint: I love the moment in games when it unlocks the double jump. Hollow Knight in particular stands out.
💯
“You will either be on board with Shenmue 3’s meandering sloppiness or you’ll hate it. I can’t imagine a middle ground.”
💯
I don't think there's a governing body.
The Switch is my favorite console, but it has terrible online, and Overwatch is an online-only game. That means I can’t play Overwatch on a plane or bus, so... not a whole lot of reason to buy this
It is misleading, but your response explains why they’re framing it this way. They just spent way too much time and way too much money making this game, and they need (or at least strongly want) it to sell gangbusters right now, not when the full compilation is out and sitting in the bargain bin.
Maybe it’s just getting into the habit of docking your switch at night? I used to have that issue with my 3ds — overestimating how long it could sleep without killing the battery — but my switch lives in the dock when I’m not using it, so it’s not an issue anymore
“I saw it as an opportunity to put an end to these alt-right claims that have been thrown against me. It wasn’t to try and clear my name...”
They're mostly notable as an organization that protests the use of religious symbols and language by state and municipal governments
Excellent reporting and writing.
Excellent piece.
Shhh, don't make people defensive. Whatever works works.
The real bummer is wired. Right now, I can’t sit on the couch and listen to the switch through headphones in docked mode, which I like to do so as to not annoy my partner. So I just use portable mode. This controller would solve that problem but for the wire. If it’s wired, I might as well just use my pro controller…
