Agreed!

For these things going forward, just wanted to suggest that if you have time to transcribe highlights from these discussions, would be much appreciated. I tend to sneak in Internet during the day at times that podcast listening wouldn’t really be feasible.

Excellent analysis.

Question: I couldn’t play this game on PS3 for any extended periods because I had roommates and was deeply ashamed to be seen playing a game with these character models (read: the breasts). Reviewers also didn’t prepare me for that. Is Odin’s Sphere like this or better?

Note that’s 730k words written is not the same as 730k of quality sufficient for publication.

What about the winter biathalon, which involves cross-country skiing and then shooting a rifle? That’s basically teaching people how to be Pierce Brosnan James Bond.

This was delightful, thank you.

Buddy, I don’t think the ad hominem is called for here! It’s an interesting article. You may think the thesis (by having textures upscaled, the art lost its soul) is overblown, but the low-res graphics of the original definitely creates some interesting effects on the scene composition that I would never have paid

I’ve seen it around enough—can someone please explain to me the genesis of the joke where it’s Jason’s fault when games are delayed? Or maybe Jason can write an article detailing its history and evolution with some insider sources. I’m flexible!

As someone who loves video games and is strongly rooting for the genre as it continues to grow in terms of narrative and writing potential, I effing hated this game. Bah! Even thinking about it now annoys me. It did a lot of things right and had a lot of neat ideas, but eff if the effing characters weren’t effing the

It’s true—if they could just make it faster, eliminate loading and add a random encounter slider, maybe shift to wide screen, it would be perfect. I still like the visuals. As is, it stands as both one of the greatest games of all time and yet borderline unenjoyable because of the frequency of the random battles and

Nintendo “fan,” you say??

Wow. This guy has very strong, moralistic opinions about how people should experience entertainment products.

Hi,

We can quibble on the world “Old” as used here, since the NES and SNES got to the point pretty quickly, but when I read this sentence I immediately thought of Twilight Princess with its excruciating three-hour tutorial of chicken-hunting and boring NPC chatter.

Why hello, that is a nice and very practical-looking alarm clock you’ve got there.

The comment thread seems to have devolved into an informal poll, so I’ll cast my vote for Advance Wars. The idea of a Mother 3 also interests me, though first I’d have to get around to playing Earthbound.

Except when you were a kid and your mom took you to the mall and you bought a game and then for the next hour you would excitedly read the manual as she walked around and shopped for stuff.

I was initially all over in this skin, in part because I like the idea of playing a jazz musician more than that of playing a DJ—but your points are all well taken. Overwatch has a muddled history of going against stereotypes (Mei, Pharah, others) and falling right into them (Lucio, Hanzo, others). I’ve always found
