Really liked this one as well - this whole series just has no right to be as good as it is, but here we are. You can definitely tell the difference between not having Reeves (some pacing issues in the back half, and fewer “oh fuck that’s good cinematography/shot design” moments) but Wes Ball did really well with most

Sarah Sherman with Colin Jost is never not funny.

I remember when her mom appeared on a mother’s day ep. Waaaay back in her first season. She looked just like all like the crazy lady characters that Heidi portrays rolled up onto one.

Fury Road maybe didn’t open big — it was, after all, a Mad Max sequel several decades after the mostly OK Beyond Thunderdome (faint praise, indeed) and with a different actor in the role (and not, perhaps, an actor that would draw in a lot interest... how many people say “ooh, Tom Hardy, that should be good!”?) — but

KotPotA cost $160 million to make and is doing well critically. The previous movie in the franchise made less than $500 million worldwide. Less than $150 million of that gross came from the American box office. Kingdom’s $56 million opening is roughly on par with War’s $56 million opening.

I have a performer crush on Heidi Gardner - not only because she’s pretty but because she does pissed off in a way I completely relate to. I liked her bit on weekend update but am curious why she and her mom weren’t in the cold open.

Isn’t Furiosa coming out the 24th?

Seven seasons? Wow, so it’s been that long since conservatives assured us that the show would be cancelled instantly without Roseanne in it.

Only if we can go back in time for more Yabushige.

I will never believe for a second that making Redfall was Arkane’s choice; I believe it was simply Zenimax tarting up the company for sale by showing Microsoft that, yes, see, they do have a money-printing machine- er, live service online game on the boil. Zenimax threw Arkane Austin under the bus.

A prestige TV remake of Friday the 13th sounds absolutely fucking awful regardless of Fuller being attached. I don’t want to watch 7 episodes of backstory about Jason’s mother’s traumatic past and 1 episode where Jason looks at a hockey mask and maybe kills someone half accidentally in the last 5 minutes setting up

I love this series of films and I’m happy it keeps getting made. I’ll see this on a reasonable edible and enjoy the fuck out of it, I’m sure.

I’m ok with a slightly more cautious story if it manages to be a hit despite it being set centuries after the Caesar trilogy. There’s room to get deeper in the sequels. I’m simply delighted we get more Apes movies, they’re always at least pretty fun simply because of the premise and modern FX really sells the world

On the other hand, after Dungeons & Dragons, I prefer him over Chris Pratt in the charismatic goofball role.

also always respect the absolute gall of the coen bros to make THAT as their followup to fargo.

So I totally get it if you don’t like his shtick or whatever. Not everybody likes the same thing and that is fine. But the idea that he is not likeable in general is silly. His whole hugely successful career is based on his likability, and his IS still hugely popular and followed. Sure, his recent relationship issues

Already knew Seinfeld was an asshole, but... wow.

Correct. The “no one knows what they’re doing” era of Pop music was the 90s, in which swing, big bang, quasi surf rock, ska, and The god damned Squirrel Nut Zippers all got chances to shine on “pop” stations.

What a bizarre critique. The special was funny;  like, really fucking funny. He revealed as much as he needed to in order to make the jokes work. Not every special needs to be doing some sort of Hannah Gadsby style confession.

A response to the prevalence of A24 style arthouse horror (where everything is a metaphor for mental trauma) was inevitable but Terrifier just never clicks with me as a gore-hound. I mean, most slashers and torture porn flicks don’t have Oscar worthy writing but Terrifier seems to forego plot completely. I find it
