Somehow it escaped them until now that yes—it’s always been about them.
It’d be a terrible idea to work with Paramount+ anyway until someone buys them and replaces all the execs
This is a difficult needle to thread, because what made Honor Among Thieves work so well was that it wasn’t just another fantasy story - it was someone generating a fantasy version of exactly was was going on in a D&D game. It leaned so hard into the gaming tropes that I really felt like I was watching a gaming group…
Honor Among Thieves was really just too fun. It’s a shame it didn’t do the numbers it needed too.
Not really. That isn’t at all the plot of the first film. It’s roughly the second half of the second one, the last 20 minutes of the third one, pretty much all of Fury Road, and back to none of this one.
Its also been a ridiculously rainy spring in the Northeast. This weekend has been one of the few good weather ones.
There were only four other people in the theater with me when I caught it early Thursday evening. Garfield seemed to have a bigger turnout that day from what I could tell in the Fandango app, but neither were doing particularly well.
I really don’t see why this is an issue for multiple reasons:
I assume it’s typical Kinja formatting fuckery rather than something intentional.
Hopeful, but a few too many “greatest hits” here. Shrunken head guy, the “squeeee” as someone is saying his name, the unseen face thing, the worm. Even looks like a dance number, albeit larger scale. I’m not surprised, I guess, it’s a nostalgia sequel after all, but I’d hoped maybe Burton would do better.
This is a much better trailer than the teaser they released earlier. Catherine O’Hara giving a lecherous Keaton an “ewww!” at the end of the clip made me laugh out loud. In.
That would mean Star Trek: Legacy isn’t coming any time soon, but I guess we knew that already.
In his defence, Godzilla Minus One exposed how lacking nearly everyone’s films are.
P
Garfield Minus Garfield is a good version.
YES!!!! Mellisa and Jacob becoming roommates was way more interesting than the will-they-won’t-they very forced plot.
I love Abbott, I love Gregory and I love Janine, but I’m a little played out on the Gregory-Janine will they/won’t they. For me, the strength of the show is in the ensemble and how they all play so differently with the challenges of the setting.
Personally, I can’t untangle myself from Jay Sherman.
