I’m not quite sure what to say to this either/or proposition, except “neither.”

I think Episcopalians are probably the sanest - they ordain women, celebrate gay marriages, don’t usually poke their heads into abortion debates, and (BONUS) don’t appear to actively protect pedophiles, unlike many Catholics.
Forever21 had a decent selection high-waisted skinnies AND wide leg denim in straight & plus sizes this year (they don’t last very long, but they look cute and are so cheap!) If you want quality, Madewell has some excellent stuff going on right now.
I’ve been dreading day this since low rise went out. I thought we all agreed that the early 00s were going to be excised from the fashion trend cycle due to extreme awfulness? Did I dream that?
The heart dress is AMAZING (and you look amazing in it). I need this for summer!
Tyra Banks was a supermodel, so I’m not sure how she fits in here. Lena Dunham is maybe comparable, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard or read of a dude saying he found her attractive (I’ve mostly seen women who are relieved to see someone looks sort of like them on TV, and men who find her repulsive)
What are Business Nerves? Is that like when my boss yells at me and I go cry in the bathroom for a couple of minutes?
I was hoping someone would mention Value Tales! They were my introduction to a LOT of the female role models of my childhood (Bly, Harriet Tubman, Eleanor Roosevelt) and a couple of dudes, too (I remember the Jackie Robinson one being especially good)
Interesting – I just always wondered why the Irish were supposedly more likely to disappear mid-party (and also if it would be considered rude to call it that in 2015, my guess is “probably yes”?)
I had to take a drug test for my current job (for the first time ever) and I was shitting myself. That being said, a guy I know who worked at a head shop said he once had a dude come in, buy one of those “cleanse” pre-test drinks smoke a joint ON THE WAY to his drug test, drink the thing and then pass just fine. I…
As someone with a 2.5 hour commute round trip, definitely take the 20 minute commute and good insurance. I had no idea how much all this driving would wear on me, it is so rough.
I have United Healthcare too, and they are seriously fucked up about prescriptions. I was told that they “wouldn’t cover” the generic version of Adderall for my ADD, so it would have ended up costing more than the (already very expensive) brand name version. That is just crazy person logic. They are insane.
Yup! I got the Nexplanon implant for free on my HMO about a year ago, and it was the best decision. Since it was a Kaiser insurance plan and a Kaiser facility, they didn’t give me any trouble about it, but I’d second the people who recommended Planned Parenthood if your insurance company is being dumb about it.
WHAT. I’m not sure how I didn’t know that, but that’s really shocking.
Sort of on-topic: My ex’s mom once told me a story about the time her friend got a nasty STD from Bill Nye – this has obviously not been independently confirmed, but seems like a weird thing to make up (and it’s another reason I never want to hear him talk about sex, I guess)
This is my new life anthem, since the ghost-out is my preferred exit strategy for almost any social situation (my grandpa always referred to it as “the old Irish exit,” but I don’t really know why)
.
Anecdotally, I love to surround myself with friends who are smarter than I am, or who excel in a certain area (whether it’s my field or not) – who wants to be the smartest person they know? That sounds boring.
I haven't watched it yet, but it sounds like maybe I should?
