Saw an article about a radial engine custom bike a decade or two ago, they remarked at how insanely quickly it would rev up and down. “Like a crack of thunder” I think was the description, you just twist the throttle and BAM it’s up to speed.

Disagree with the rotating mass comment. Radial engines have lower rotating mass than inline or V engines of similar displacement. This engine likely has a 700 ish cubic in displacement and a Big Block Chevy would have a higher rotating mass because of the giant crank and the need for a flywheel.
