But there's really a limited amount of remastering that would need to go into DQVIII. Having replayed it on my iPad within the past year the graphics hold up quite well compared to other PS2 era Square games.

It just never really clicked for me, I tried to start it up probably 3-4 times and could never get past about 10 hours in. For whatever reason, whether it was the characters, the design or what, I was never able to get into the game like I did with all the others. The fault is probably with me more than the game…

Agreed, I feel like X gets a lot of shit for its cutscenes and voice acting (HA HA HA!). But the gameplay, especially the ability to sub-characters mid-battle, and the sphere grid are all pretty high up there in terms of FF battle system quality.
