As I mentioned last week I just finished up going through the process of gathering all the celestial weapons in FFX, I'd have to say I certainly feel like I wasted a lot of time playing Blitzball and dodging lightning bolts. But I also wouldn't call that my favorite time wasting activity.

FYI Chait put out another piece today elaborating and discussing the many pieces inspired by his original article.

I don't think sounding pompous is avoidable on this issue no matter what side people fall on.

I've read it and many of the responses, I have to admit the AV Club was one of the latter places I was expecting a response to it. What I think the critics get wrong (including this article), is something I think Cameron actually articulates perfectly when she says "I think any conversation that moves from

The battle system of having all your characters readily available to switch is just so fantastic; the fluid battles adjusting to the enemy type. It's why I always have a soft spot for Middle Earth: The Third Age which just copies the same battle system, down to the turn order appearing on the side with the

It's still enjoyable to me, just the gap between where I am now (comfortably leveled to be able to beat the final boss) and what I'd have to do for the platinum (as you point out, 70 hours of tedious grinding) is just too huge. There's too much just exploiting an AP gaining trick at the monster arena, grinding for

They other trophies do add up to your gamer score in some unknown amounts, it would be easier if they just told you the value of a bronze, silver, or gold trophy. Generally unless I'm actively going for a platinum trophy in a game I don't really care about any of them. And I'd agree many of the games the platinum is

Having collected all the Celestial Weapons and at least one of every monster in FFX HD my interest is starting to wane as I see how onerous it would be to actually platinum that game. I'll probably grind a little more AP get bored then just finish off the game. Still hoping to get back into restarting the Mass

Nope, Fado's is an Irish bar (and a chain actually).

Spoiler alert, it does. The various Idealorgs (or whatever they called their big "rebuilding" processes are mentioned. There was one down the street from my office in Dupont Circle, DC. It went through months of extreme renovations, they had this big opening party, but there's nobody that goes in or out of that

Eh, my last experience with the food was so-so. I was however pleasantly surprised by the food at Fado's next door, although it lacks the great beer selection.

There's been a regular DC meet-up all this time?

I remember the games I played most often. The original Sonic, Clutch Hitter (which seems like a pretty solid baseball game for the time), a Space Invaders port, Sonic Triple Trouble (a decent Sonic game that I thought should have been ported back to Genesis), Sonic Spinball, some Tazmanian Devil game, and Batman:

I had a Game Gear, it's graphics really blew the original Game Boy's out of the water at the time. Unfortuntaely it ate through six batteries at a time like nobody's business.

This looks pretty enjoyable. Seems to be putting off a slightly more involved Knights of Pen and Paper vibe, which I would be down with. But based on my current backlog I may wait until it's Android release and accompanying price drop, looks like a great mobile game.

I'd say you and I are of an age on the Pokémon thing. During that time of adolescence there's a lot of societal pressure to avoid anything potentially labeled "childish" or a "baby game," and for better or worse Pokémon seemed to fit the childish label in the mid- to late-90s. I'd put it in the same bucket as Mighty

I'd like to think I'd be Lambtron or Roostor, but really I'm just Shoe.

Will they be signing autographs?

Screw Crysby.

Having just gotten back from vacation I'm looking forward to good weekend of relaxing gaming. After being inspired by discussion here, I picked up FFX/FFX-2 HD on my Vita a few weeks ago. I just finally reached the endgame in FFX so some of my time this weekend will be devoted to monster catching, lightning dodging,
