While not approaching anything close to the rhythm and speed competitive speed run, I used to be pretty fast amongst my friends at getting through SMB 3 on NES. Another game I enjoyed speeding though is Majora's Mask, there the time-crunch is also somewhat forced through the internal three-day mechanism as well.

I was happy to pay for the original, and its expansion (and I'm in the 5% minority who paid on Android). But it is an interesting issue. Ooh, those are both good ideas. And considering how loosely Shadow of Mordor related to the LotR trilogy itself (both in story and tone), they would really be freed up narratively and stylistically to do whatever they wanted in those locales.
