Thanks for this - I feel like, while he definitely came across bad, many people aren’t willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I think this has very little to do with an insistence on only pursuing the most beautiful women. I think it’s entirely that their personalities are so toxic that they could look like a movie star and still get no play.
Contrapoints is amazing, and this video in particular is fantastic. Natalie really does a great job both explaining them and having empathy for them without excusing them for their awful behavior.
I’m 100% with you that feminism is what these guys need, but in fairness, feminism isn’t designed for men, and so it doesn’t sell itself well to men. Before I’m torn to pieces here, let me be clear that I by no means am saying that it’s women’s job to “rescue” these men, nor that feminism needs to change or somehow be…
Florida might be crazy but it’s a different kind of crazy. I mean, for the longest time the state motto of Alabama has been “49th in everything - thank God for Mississippi!” Seems like they’re endeavoring to go for the even 50.
I mean, German just makes these things up as it goes, but you could coin a term like Prominentendrecksackekel (lit. Celebrity scumbag disappointment) or Promifehlverhaltentraurigkeit (celebrity misbehavior sadness). Or maybe Prominentenverratstraurigkeit (celebrity betrayal sadness).
We’re trying, I swear, but Greg Abbot and Dan Patrick do not make it fucking easy.
Man, it’s really like night and day there. I’m actually super thankful that I first played this game on the Gamecube, because otherwise the compressed audio would have bothered me the whole time. Even still, the music was one of my favorite parts of the game.
They’re trying to prey upon people in a moment of weakness. It’s not unusual for people to have regrets about a big decision like this in the wake of it, and they’re hoping to hit and amplify those feelings, to convince them that they didn’t really want an abortion, but those evil baby killers tricked them into it. …
It sounds to me more like a complaint about false piety, the idea being that on the Sabbath, orthodox Jews are supposed to avoid all work, and rabbinic interpretation of the law states that pressing a button in an elevator constitutes work. Further, asking someone to press a button for you is also not allowed. But,…
So, to be clear, she was required to submit her children to the test by a court order - that’s why she had to. You can argue whether the court was just in making that order until you’re blue in the face, and it won’t change the fact that, once ordered, you must comply, or be in contempt. And while she alleges that she…
Yeah, I mean like it or not, if a court orders something you have two options: comply, or be held in contempt. It sounds like her attorney alleges that she was not informed of the order though, as they say she “didn’t even really know [it] was happening.”
When I finally defeat a difficult boss, I’m usually more annoyed than elated.
I have been on the fence about picking up Enter the Gungeon for a while - this article clinched a purchase.
IIRC, the dragon breaks weren’t part of Elder Scrolls canon until Morrowind. While they were invented to do exactly what you say in the article, Heather, both Daggerfall and Arena were fairly mundane fantasy; they didn’t come up with the idea until they started making Morrowind and tried to figure out which of the…

Yeah, you’re exactly right - usually anti-surveillance laws come into play when one records a conversation in which one is not a participant. Since he’s interviewing these people, that wouldn’t apply here. I mean, if it went to court then there probably wouldn’t be strong precedent to decide one way or the other, but…
While it varies based on jurisdiction, generally speaking these kinds of laws only apply to communication in private, such as over telephone. A quick google search confirms that is the case for the Canadian law you’re referencing. For instance, if I’m having an argument with someone in a restaurant, and I record them,…
I think, if you follow your argument to its conclusion, you’ll realize that this essentially either argues for banning all luxury items, or for requiring something akin to a full credit check in order to purchase things. If “no one should be free to make whatever decision they like” for the reasons you state, what do…
I am so excited to see this at the Drafthouse when I get back to Austin next week. The before-the-movie stuff is always super fun to watch, especially when it’s, like, bad Spider-man stuff from the 70's and 80's.
