I would venture to say the Mazda3 is losing to its own big brother, the 6. At only 2 grand more than the hatch and 4 more than the sedan, with better performance and equal fuel economy, if you have the money for it it's a no brainer. I'd also argue that it's better looking than the sedan, but nothing beats the 3-hatch.

The Beast is now five years old and due for a replacement. Since President Obama's eventual successor can't just roll around in any random old hooptie, the Department of Homeland Security is seeking automaker bids to make a new one. Who wants in?

I would still agree that this is a wagon.

I've never heard of that definition. I always thought of it as a two door wagon, or as something that's not quite a hatch, but isn't a wagon either.

Hey Rob Bricken, you know what? This isn't cool. I'm a Christian with pretty sound theology and a healthy respect for science that most people here would appreciate. Why criticize my faith? Why call my god a "dick?" Seriously. Not cool. I realize you're entitled to your opinion and I'll defend your right to write

I'm so glad this started an intelligent discussion on theology and biblical interpretations...

Another crisis that could've been averted with one of these!

For some reason people in other countries really love English swear words.

Wankel is an easy answer because the thing is named after him... I vote whoever came up with that new Nissan engine. Also the ecoboost guys.

Hyundai is Korean and Mitsubishi is Japanese. What makes the Compass a Chinese car?

What we really need to look at is the rate at which those engineers received their wings, extrapolate and integrate to get the number of VWs hitting 100K. Break out those calculators.

I liked the Jag ad, but I could've seen more shots of the car. And heard it. That engine note...

I thought Hyundai took care of the luxury side of things and Kia was the hamster brand...

Airport security seems pretty arbitrary to me. The only reason we put so much into it is because of 9-11, but who's to say that the next major security threat isn't someplace like a mall? I understand that the biggest threat is to use the planes as weapons themselves, but there must be more creative solutions out

Q: What do my mind and this engine have in common?

I drive a '98 5 series. We've had the thing since my dad bought it new, and even after all these years I still stop to look at it every time I walk out of the house. I can't get over how good it looks.

For the rare occasion when the Miata is not the answer...

I read that as loL engine. Basically the same thing.
