I only have 1 car, so it only has to do the things I need it for: 70mi/day commute, must hold my mountain bike(s) inside plus any other gear. Must be chargeable in a reasonable amount of time(less than 15min) if I’m going somewhere far, and 300mi range! Also must be easy to clean.

IIRC on the E30, only the 325is and some later 325i had the battery in the trunk to help distribute weight and offer better performance. But I’ve always thought that the extra weight of the extra 8' of battery cable kinda offset any advantage, because you still have the weight of the battery and the cable weight.
