If you can’t grasp the fundamental difference between “some dude on the internet” and “the actual creator of the characters” I don’t know what to say.

Because the creator has a bigger right to be angry about the fact that their work has been significantly changed in the process of adaptation? I very much believe in changing things in adaptations to accommodate the new medium, but I’d be irked about something they changed from my work, even if 99% of it was right.
I don’t think it’s a binary thing. Yeah, some fans are over the top in complaining that changes are made when going from book to film, and it is sometimes the case that the changes are thoughful or necessary or even an improvement but fans with blinders can’t see that.
Qualitatively different when you cast a black character as a white guy, I think.
As does Duncan MacLeod, although fortunately there can be only one name in the credits.
It’s appalling to see a studio completely miss the heart of the property, but that’s studio execs for you. It will be interesting to see if the Disneycorp takeover will amount to the same focus on quality that we see in the Marvel properties, or if it will be a same blunder as the LucasFilms properties (note- not…
How the hell do you direct and co-write a movie about Mutants, who represent oppressed minorities, and not give a shit about talking about racial politics?
Also, throwing this out there; there are rich black families all around the world. “I can’t have this character be black because they’re not poor” is a really shitty take on this.
“Yet another example of Hollywood white-washing. There’s just no excuse.” (Boone discussed the controversy in an io9 interview published Tuesday.)
Personally Nextwave has lost its luster for me ever since it came out Warren Ellis was a scumbag who coerced women into having sex with him while claiming to mentor them and then metaphorically dropping them like a sack of potatoes.
They should just release a four hour version of The Lighthouse instead
Yeah and Tommy Wisseau claimed The Room was funny on purpose too.
Yeah but guess what
“Hallelujah” is yet another fine song ruined by overuse in trailers for shitty movies; see also “Solsbury Hill.”
I’m reminded of a Twitter comment about the Ghostbusters Afterlife trailer: “This looks like a fan project made five years ago by people who are no longer on speaking terms with each other”
First thought on pressing play “Oh, ‘Hallelujah’? Definitely a Snyder film”
Classic Zack Snyder: pull out a classic song, set it to scenes that are completely unrelated, and wait for the fanboys to come in and call it high art.
I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a more pompous trailer in my 40 years.
Let us not forget that, supposedly before Whedon was ever brought on, Synder was removed from the film because what the Warner execs had seen was deemed “unwatchable” and I cannot fucking wait to see this monolithic tranwreck.
