That seems like a really shitty band-aid attempt to fix a dangerous situation. If the road in front of the school is more than 35mph to begin with, that’s already a problem.

They were ruled unconstitutional in my state for a time because all fines are supposed to go to the school system. I always found this a bit of a fishy excuse since on a normal traffic ticket you typically pay a very small ‘fine’ of around $20 bucks, and then have to pay $200 in court costs, which doesn’t go to the…
The trick with this area is its only temporarily a school zone. It’s 20mph between 7A-6P and 30mph between 6P-7A.
Those systems usually take several days just to generate the ticket. Someone has to look at it and verify the plate (even if the software grabs the plate number). Then they have to get the driver info from a DMV database. Then they still have to print and mail the ticket out. I could easily see them not getting the…
We have one like that for a middle school on a feeder road for the highway, normal speed limit 55mph, 25 during school zone hours. Now I am perfectly fine with school zones, but like it’s on a highway feeder (frontage road for those not in Texas), like there is never a kid walking to school lol.
In all levels of football, if the ball is snapped before the clock expires, the kick counts.
Insurance makes sense for a $100K contest, but I’m surprised a dealership that can afford a $15M donation would bother with insurance for a $5K prize.
I’m not talking about every situation. Just this particular one where it was so damn close, the kid was announced as winning, and the rules were not clearly explained to him.
Even if the insurance company wouldn’t cover it, they should have immediately chosen to take the hit and pay for it out of pocket.
The insurance company is the bad guy here, the dealerhsip is the GOOD GUY for once. All of these are backed by insurance companies so the dealer took this out of their pocket to make it right. The dealer should get nothing but good press for cleaning up after the insurnace company.
No flak from me. You are correct - these hole in one contests etc are usually backed by specialty insurance companies. Just glad the dealer stepped up, especially considering the field is named after them!
Good he took the cash, definitely better to avoid having any future dealings with that dealership.
Different companies prioritize different rating factors, and yeah they’re regulated by the state but that just means they have to submit their rating factors for approval, unless you’re in NC premiums will be different (though they could be very similar depending on your profile).
“My mom’s husband..”Damn, that guy ain’t even considered a stepfather :>)
“Typical upper-crust thinking.”
I strongly suspect he’ll regret this stance. Patient groups (cancer, transplants, etc) are large, very vocal, and often have a lot of time on their hands. I foresee picketing, upside down reviews, crank calls, threats (not good, but inevitable), and on and on.
Fuck Ohio.
Ranko Veslinovic, a name that just sounds greasy, and his actions confirm his greasiness.
This is why consumer protection laws exist, and why shitty red states often pass laws that strip away consumer protections. Ugh.
