    I don’t have a garage, and it’s not actually at my house atm (I’ve stashed it at my parent’s while I get back up to speed on driving), but this is my ‘89 Citroen BX GTi; It’s my first car, bought exactly 8 years after I got my license. I always wanted a something a bit dumb as a first car, but it kinda took me a while

    Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it increase at some point. suspect it’ll be a fair while before it’s in an appropriate range for this though.

    Sadly, battlebots caps drive & weapon voltage at 60v, and the gemera runs at 800v; not sure what the minimum voltage one of these would run at, but I’m pretty sure it’d be more than 60v.

    Pretty sure I recognize that chassis:

    I work in live events, doing the design/build on these sorts of tours; I’m on the automation/controls/safety systems side, rather than structural design, but I can vouch for the amount of complexity that goes into them. Everything you do has to be designed to be thrown around, put up in a day, torn down again, and

    Was still a thing when I was at school, early 2000's; our house didn’t have one, but had friends who did.

    Tickford did also have a bash at the Mini:

    Hmm, from the first one, I’m thinking probably the Honda jazz:

    Don’t get be wrong, I love the ridiculousness of the idea, but;

    Adjacent tip; there’s a few fairly cheap (<£20) meters knocking about now that have bluetooth built-in; might seem a bit of a gimmick, but it’s got a couple of good uses. Firstly, it means you can hook it up, and view the readings from a distance, which is probably useful if you want to check voltages under the bonnet

    Looking over the numbers, each I3 battery can provide (at most) 37.9kWh; 40 therefore gives a 1516kWh battery pack, although with battery degradation it’s likely less. A show of coldplay size can burn ~2000kWh normally, but it’s reasonable to assume they’re taking other measures to cut power consumption, and/or are

    Pedantry time; Lada have only been around since ‘73, although the VAZ-2101 started production in ‘70, under AutoVAZ. Even the Fiat 124, which the Lada was based on, only went into production in ‘66.

    Quite a lot of smallish hatchbacks are available as vans in europe; they’re usually a pretty lazy conversion, same as that; rip out the back seats, install a divider, maybe some sort of floor tray, a few extra tie downs, and black out the back windows. Usually used for service engineers, cleaners, stuff like that.

    I feel like this is glossing over the key point of that video; the micro electric has solitaire

    Along a similar vein, probably one of the weirder things I’ve seen was a 2-car car transporter carrying two identical, highly damaged ford fiestas. IE same trim level, same colour, same numberplate, and all the damage (crumpled panels, broken windows, paint scratches etc) perfectly identical on both. Can only assume

    If you use them, make sure they’re done tight enough & on thick enough material; we used to use them on rack cases at my old work, and we were forever having to deal with lids we couldn’t get off because the rivnuts were spinning in their holes. I’m sure this is a case of poor insertion rather than an issue with the

    I always find it weird that they brought it to the UK as the vauxhall maloo;

    Damn, that looks like a very nicely worked out system. kinda hope they come up with a similarly set-up workbench setup, too, with maybe a mitre saw or something on it.

    Definitely looks like a UK view of stock car racing; uk stock car racing tends to be a pretty close relative of banger racing, and escort would be pretty representative for 1984:

    It’s not a parabolic antenna; it’s a phased antenna array, which allows it to be precisely aimed electronically (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phased_array). There’s also a motorised pan/tilt, I believe. While mounting it to your bonnet’s pretty dumb, I don’t really see any reason why it wouldn’t work on a car.
