I am flummoxed that the take here is that Johnson is somehow one of those “broke boys”, instead of some mixture of the evils of Republican loopholes (and competent exploitation thereof) and the torrent of improper disclosure (and other financial) scandals even Jez has been covering

It’s like when Justin Timberlake wrote a song called Take Back the Night, and he had no idea what that phrase originally referred to.

I guess I’m not as chronically online as I thought, because I didn’t clock that hashtag as even remotely familiar.

Strange story.

It’s being hyped up like he was a bigoted monster who did 12 MILLION DOLLARS worth of harm.

But it just sounds like half of the managers and supervisors I’ve ever had. Does Amazon owe me 120 million because they are so much richer than De Niro and there were managers there who treated me vastly worse than

The things that’s striking me is that she ups and leaves as soon as accountants started doing audits. That is not a personal thing to a business relationship....its really a normal day to day (hell I do them quarterly on my own personal stuff) and anyone with that amount of bread should be doing them often.

That’s it over 11 years?

And a reminder that several of the lawyers who worked on the Bush team during the Supreme Court case are *serving* on the Supreme Court right now.

I am a 6'0" man, so height has never been an issue for me.

Any man claiming to be 5'11" is at most 5'9". Men who are between 5'10" and 5'11" all claim 6'.

I honestly had no idea that Tatum and Kravitz had been together for 2 years. Good for them.

Or they date co-workers just like everyone else. Or they run in the same circles and meet the same people. Or they like to date people they have things in common with...

Was that statement all you at Jezebel ever dreamed of? Was it enough to satisfy the world’s craving for comment?

In fairness, it’s sort of like that David Frum quote, except not only did the Republicans reject democracy, they rejected conservatism. ...and ideologies more broadly. ...and objective reality. ...and, at least arguably, winning.

If conservatives become convinced that they can not win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. The will reject democracy.”
David Frum

The GOP has ideas and a platform, it’s just that their ideas and platform involve you doing things their way and their way only. The part of small government want to control every aspect of your life.

I thought back to 2000, too, when Katherine Harris purged nearly 200k voters from the Florida rolls. Bush “won” by 537. If you have the stomach for it the Max documentary 537 Votes is a fascinating (and also wildly infuriating) look back on what happened.

Got to love the people who think a couple of paragraphs of incoherent abuse on a celebrity’s social media will somehow move the needle of progress forward. I swear some of these people live according to the ideas of sympathetic magic. I’m pretty sure that’s what “vibes” are. I think we’re descending from our behavior

Well, it depends on who you ask, whether it would be the end of Israel. if you ask Likud, it would be the end of Israel. They can’t even stand the two-state compromise. But others have been favorable to the idea, and it was even part of the deal that resulted in Gaza becoming part of Israel in the first place

Right of return doesn’t mean Israel ceases to exist; it just means the Palestinians who were evicted (or, by now, their descendents) could return to their homes.  I’m not convinced Hamas would be satisfied with that; their stated goal is the eradication of Israel as a state, which goes well beyond the right of return.

How do you expect Palestinians to vote when the opposition party was exterminated and there has not been an election since 2006? These people are just as much victims of Hamas as the Israelis are. And you can thank Putin for his support of that, not just Iran.
