Surprise surprise: it’s easier for some people to accept that there’s a conspiracy afoot (apparently involving literally everyone Jake Paul has fought,) than to accept that this person who has gone out of their way to make a lucrative living out of being odious, might actually just be better at boxing than his chosen,

But what should not be lost in the American media discourse is Peng Shuai, the human being, not merely the star athlete, who has to contend with half the world dissecting her every move.

The police, lawyers, judges— they’re all in on it.

People are hung up on the timeline because it’s clear that Mulaney was cheating and yet refuses to just admit to it.

if Henry Cavill showed up on my doorstep wanting to make babies, I wouldn’t tell him no.

It’s not at all “mendacious” to point out that despite his intended meaning, his words could very easily be perceived as potentially hurtful to his children and ex-wife.

It’s untruthful (i.e., mendacious) to report on comments made by another party in a manner that deliberately and knowingly misconstrues the obvious intended meaning of those comments; it is further untruthful or dishonest to frame that knowing misconstruction as a reasonable or plain reading of the subject comments.

Looked it up to make sure—it is indeed untruthfulness (I might have said “dishonesty” if prompted randomly)... for example: knowingly misconstruing another’s words and then acting like the specious interpretation is obvious, plain to or reasonable. It’s a page straight out of the fake news playbook (i.e., the Newsmax

John David Washington would absolutely kill it.

Regardless of whether that’s true (i.e., it’s actually par,) it’s definitely forced me to re-evaluate what I should expect from this part of the site. This is some Newsmax-level mendacity right here.

As for the valuation being definitively “wildly overvalued” I don’t know. It probably is but a lot of that is a function of low interest rates.

Between this utter failure to conduct a one-minute Google search for Kwan’s credentials and qualifications, and the willful misinterpretation of Ben Affleck’s comments (which seemingly no one in the comments is agreeing with,) it feels especially bad, even by ‘Dirt Bag’ standards.

While that conversation did include a few nice comments about Garner, most outlets interpreted it as Affleck blaming her for his alcohol misuse.

I don’t really disagree with most of what you’re saying—my whole point is that the strongest feelings regarding Musk (for and against,) reside in the extremes: self-proclaimed libertarian rugged individualists and Ayn Rand devotees see John Galt crossed with Tony Stark—a visionary industrialist and technologist whose

My two cents: I think it’s probably the case that academic/scholarly papers and writing are (generally) written by academics for other academics; so if something seems difficult to read, I’m generally prepared to entertain the possibility that it’s difficult for me because it wasn’t written to or for me, and there’s

all he wants, but he’ll never actually be cool to anyone, beyond perhaps a narrow sliver of the least cool people on the internet.

The whole basis of the challenge to the law before SCOTUS is that petitioners contend the law constitutes an unlawful restraint under Roe and its progeny. Petitioners are going through this whole process precisely to vindicate their right to access reproductive care.

The next time the goodness and pureness of the hearts of white adopters is the topic,

This kind of purposefully confusing writing is why I absolutely hate academia and the whole sociology/liberal arts structure.

Agreed; it’s weird take to say he was blaming his kids. It really just seems like he was providing an honest, clinical inventory of the factors that weighed into his decisional process in that moment.
