I’d be happier to concede that fact if it weren’t for the fact that Universal’s terrible neglect of their classic monster brand has resulted in such apathy toward those characters that not only have people become convinced that they couldn’t possibly work today, or have any sort of popularity, but people can’t even

They’re not. Two of those weren’t even Universal films. You know how annoying it is when mom or dad asks “So when will Batman and RoboCop join the Avengers?” That’s what you just did. Just saying.

Someone's never seen an Italian Giallo before. Blood and Black Lace is quite a few shades darker and more realistic but that didn't stop Bava from using a lurid, vibrant color palette. Dullness is not a quality of maturity.

“I’m not used to being thrown out of restaurants.”

I disagree. He’s like RoboCop, dealing with a lot of similar themes (as far as the individual character goes that is) but rather than being a cop, he’s a member of the Justice League, he’s a young guy who had a life ahead of him that was taken away, there’s the whole neglectful father dynamic, and Cyborg’s growth over

Mother of white man killed by police for drawing a weapon yells racist slurs at black reporter.

Damn that was sad.

Interesting how the more aggressive one has more stars.

Please, that whole “he’s just being praised because he died” thing is a lame cop-out excuse and it always has been. The Joker in that film was a perfect storm of great writing, great direction, and great acting. I have my issues with the Nolan films, but the Joker in that film was realized perfectly by everyone

We’re talking about interpretations of the character. You’re right, I haven’t seen the film, and I’m comparing a character in a film with behind the scenes antics. I’ll give you that. But it’s a matter of approach. Leto’s attempts to get in character just don’t jive with the Joker’s real core. He’s all about jokes,

You know what really gives it away? None of this is funny. Granted the Joker shouldn’t truly be funny when he’s doing terrible things, but these aren’t even jokes. They’re just weird things he did.

The worst thing is when characters from public domain works are shipped together in adaptations, and then people just assume it’s canon. For instance, people who ship Count Dracula with Mina Murray. In the book, the extent of their relationship is “he tried to kill Jonathan and pseudo-raped her” but thanks to a

What MRA attitude? His attitude is one of a neglected child in the body of a fully grown man and amplified even further by Victor’s mad science mojo. He’s not going around talking about men’s rights issues, waxing about how misandry is ruining everything. He simply longs for some sense of connection, of intimacy and

“To end an otherwise brilliant season of set-up with a shot of the cruel and sexist Creature?”

Here are the two most likely outcomes I see for this movie, coming from an admitted assumption that the movie isn’t terrible:

That’s because they’re not gorillas. They’re the Mangani.

Terrorism. That’s the problem.

You ever live with a ghost? I have, and they’re basically house cats you can’t train or even discipline. A book falling off a shelf isn’t an existential nightmare, it’s pausing your Netflix binge of The Office, walking over to the book shelf and putting things back where they go. Then, whoops, the door closed when you

Let’s see, we’ve had a Batman ‘66 comic, and now a Wonder Woman ‘77 comic. Anyone want to bet how likely a ‘50s-set Adventures of Superman comic would be? I’m betting “almost definitely never going to happen” since, y’know, DC hates Superman and everything.

As a Superman fan I’m sick of “evil Superman”. It’s a symptom of the general problem with pop culture and its current attitude toward the character. It’s popular to think he’s broken, that he doesn’t work today, that he’s too powerful or too unrelatable or any other dumb recycled hypocritical excuse.
