In my job, I see children who are the victims of abuse and neglect on a daily basis. Through this work I have lost all faith in CPS and our other systems setup to protect them. To say it has had a negative impact on me physically and emotionally would be an understatement. My eye pretty much always twitches now due to

Dudes fuck up other dudes so bad. It’s real depressing. Every element of toxic masculinity comes back to men being shitty to other men.

‘I know what I’m working on, I know what I’ve gotten myself into here.’

“Other people I’ve talked to have been like, ‘I know what I’m working on, I know what I’ve gotten myself into here.’ And you start to blame yourself for being shitty or weak or spineless.”

This person applied and WANTED to work at NetherRealm. Are you telling me that they had never seen the kind of work they do? Had no idea the type of work they WOULD be doing?

Agreed. The article isn’t even about whether or not these people are filing complaints or complaining, more about the fact that this game, and other games have effects on the people working on them akin to PTSD

This is shockingly bleak, and I'm embarrassed to say that I never really considered what the process of creating this sort of thing could do to a person. I'm glad that everyone got their game out to good reviews and decent pay, but this is a grim toll that shouldn't be part of the process of creating art and

Man, these grey comments about workers not being able to handle the content of a game they signed on to make, way to miss the point. Exposure to material like this effects the human psyche negatively, blanket statement, end of story. Even if the extent of that damage is desensitization and is largely not at a

tDR did design work for musicians and venues such as Aphex Twin, Autechre, Gatecrasher, The Orb and Warp Records. They were wholeheartedly a major player in creating the vibe and aesthetic from then.

In the U.S., the first game will always remind me of artist parties in abandoned Williamsburg, Brooklyn factories, when the neighborhood was still raw as hell and before that all became a cliche. Same vibe.

“We’ll never be able to replace Reggie.”

It helped that he was also buying what he was selling.  While not a hardcore gamer by any stretch of the imagination, he often had Nintendo games/systems on his person ready to play.  Seemed to genuinely believe in the product.

I think a lot of people don’t understand how good of a job Reggie has done, I look forward to the “wow I didn’t realize...” reactions to the numerous think pieces that are to come.

to be replaced by marketing man Doug Bowser

Gamers need to be nuked from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.

Don’t give a shit if I get dragged for this, but:

If they had simply come out with the “We understand the feeling, but we are making a game with the intent of containing the worst kinds of people” explanation, it would still be kinda gross but more understandable.

“Nothing can be done,” says only country where this regularly happens.

Wait, what? Niles Rodger worked on Halo 2 soundtrack?!
