People who prefer the PS2's “quality” visuals are the same people who think VHS offers an experience you can’t get with Blu-ray and that the distortion and low fidelity fuzzing sounds on ancient LP’s are better than than crystal clear audio where you can hear all the instruments.

Dad goals for real. You’re not a good dad until you build a giant fighting robot with your child.

If my dad spend as much time doing my cosplays and he does in his alcoholism, I bet I would have one like this.

Shockingly, when you try for mainstream coverage, you need to deal with mainstream standards. Who would have guessed?

Squall has an actual character that develops as the game progresses both as a person and as one of the protagonists. Vaan does not develop as either.

I’m tired of “The hero’s journey” archetype being used to excuse shitty characters and plots.

luckily the director didn’t pop a massive boner over Vaan and make him the star of the next 3-4 games.

No he’s not. He was supposed to be comic relief but execs at Square couldn’t stand the idea that the “pretty boy” wasn’t the main character so it changed from Basch to Vaan.

A Final Fantasy protagonist even worse than Lightning? Can it be?

“I just wish [Final Fantasy VIII]’s main character weren’t this pretty boy shithead,” is exactly what I said when I first saw squall, so it’s not like pretty boy shit heads are new to the franchise

I’ll go further: the ENTIRE GAME would have been better served by it. Imagine having to skulk around Ivalice, not sure if you can even trust Balthier, who is basically the only reason you’re still alive. Constantly on the run, learning new skills as you go, but never fully certain what’s going on.

Man, can you imagine how much better the beginning of this game would be if Basch was the main character? Your character was stuck in a cell for years, accused of treason against the king you served and despised by the public. On the other hand, the gradual trust that’s regained between Basch and the other characters

I’m so excited that XII is FINALLY some love. As an FF that’s easily in my top 3, I often felt that it got shat on in the years following its release for reasons I found incredibly silly. Granted, Vaan is probably the worst FF protagonist - I just always felt as though the things the game does right FAR out-measure

As a longtime rider for FFXII, I am ELATED that this version is coming out and getting its proper due. To this day, I’ve never been as completionist about a game as this one.

You’re gonna enrage some weeaboos by calling it an anime.

Well I adored the show..the dialogue is hit or miss but I’ve been watching anime for the better part of 25 years. Clunky dialogue doesn’t shake me much. It did feel very...Whedon-like. Depending on how you like Whedon that could be make or break. Castlevania very much reminded me why I hated the 2016-17 Berserk

Huge Castlevania fan. Loved it, and want more. I hope they use some of the musical motifs from the game when they finally get really into the castle.

Watch this, I’m about to do a magic trick, okay?

Still don’t like how he’s the central image of the game when the story is really about Ashe and Balthier. Thankfully after the intro stuff you can bench his dumb ass and rarely have to see him.
