It’s as if Daft Punk fucked the Village People

Nah, it was actually bad satire if the point didn’t get across. We’ve crossed heads in the past, but I generally like your posts, and even when you call me out on some things. No worries. (If you had said “that was a really bad comment” I would have had no recourse!)

Seriously your offended when your account is named after a man who has abused multiple women? You know what the word ironic means right?

The tweets are idiotic, but are you seriously comparing the two?

I don’t usually respond to people who have nothing better to do than post negative comments to people on the internet

You may have never been a racist scumbag, but you got the self-righteous prick thing down pat!

Yeah. Because everyone who said something stupid as a kid went on to murder multiple people.

It makes one wonder where their mind is at, just how Freudian that slip was.

No. It wasn’t intentionally racist. The suspension is ridiculous. Pandering to the SJW crowd.

Agreed. Just piggybacking a bit, since I was reading some comments from people that appeared to be confused about what the phrase means.

There’s a middle ground between “that’s racist” and “everyone upset by this is a snowflake”.

Waiting a cotton pickin’ minute means to slow down and take a lot of time, as picking cotton is/was an arduous task that required more than a few seconds. It isn’t racist, but it is very racially charged and probably shouldnt be used when describing the mind of a black man.

This very much a non-story. My (white) mother and her brothers picked cotton into adulthood. Picking cotton is a miserable experience; “cotton pickin” is a substitute for swearing, one which she used all the time. It has nothing to do with race, although it is easy to understand why it would sound that way, especially

Russell Westbrooke is cracking the whip on other NBA teams!

But then how will people know how virtuous we are?

which describes an act traditionally performed by black slaves and still widely associated with black slavery

The phrase wasn’t originated in racist tones though. It actually is used as a replacement for swearing, and that’s how it originated. Just because something originated in the south while slaves were there doesn’t make it racist. If I (I’m Latino) say a black guy “looks blue” is that “racially charged” because the

I grew up in the south and heard the expression occasionally, usually from old people, and it never came off as racist. It was just one of those wacky country expressions. But it is messed up when you stop and think about it, though. The announcer should be more aware of what he’s saying. A genuine on air apology

He doesn’t even need to apologize. It’s not racist. White people claiming things are racist doesn’t make them racist. If they want to talk to him and ask him not to say it again, fine. But he owes no one an apology. This blog post is more of a story than it should be.
