Deadspin has fallen a lot. It still has the occasional, thoughtful piece worth reading, which Barstool could never replicate in a thousand years. But now Deadspin is overrun with click bait, hate mongering, and shameless links to tone deaf Hamilton Nolan “articles”. Barstool doesn’t have the intelligent writers to in

US History teacher here, and first I must say that any attempt to deny that slavery wasn’t the number one reason for secession is complete revisionist BS. It’s the most important reason by far, and anyone saying it wasn’t is either a complete idiot or has an agenda to push, and a pretty despicable agenda at that.

I think that makes Van Gundy the perfect test case for this. That series win, over such a bad Cleveland team, was one of the most important things that earned him enough respect to be given complete control, as coach and GM, of the Pistons later.

They will be for sure. I was a huge supporter of “The Process”, but Philly is still a ways away. People got excited by the big win streak at the end, where they beat two playoff teams (#8 Minnesota and the Cavs), and a pretty dominant performance against Miami (who are a great example of a mediocre team with a good

I’m all for mocking Boston bros, but tying appreciation of Stevens for being an excellent coach to some sort of racial narrative seems way off to me.

The odds. I think the series is a toss up, but Vegas had the Cavs as -275 favorites to win the series. Even if you favor Cleveland slightly, betting Boston is smart.

Kerr is the most easily criticized of the three in the“top coaches” section that I listed, but I think managing egos is a major plus in his favor. I think people downplay how important a role that is. That’s why I’ll never try to argue against Phil Jackson’s greatness. He might have been a disaster as a GM, but being

I can’t tell you how quickly I texted my bookie when I saw the odds on the Celtics to win this series. I think Stevens will very much make that list, and we can say four of the top five coaches in the game have beaten LeBron in a playoff series.

In reverse order, every coach that has actually beaten LeBron in a playoff series:

Because it’s way easier to group everyone into two camps; those who you idolize/are innocent victims and those who are alt-right Nazis. Anything else, and you’re not getting the clicks.

Your comment was pretty good, but your username is better

That’s a really good explanation, thank you. I still find my head spinning from it, however.

A) LOL Mets

Not uncomfortable. Did I say I was uncomfortable? It’s just a hyperbolic statement. The NCAA is obviously not a slave plantation, not even close. Doesn’t mean it isn’t need of a major overhaul. But there’s a middle ground between “This system is totally fair” and “it’s a slave plantation”. Neither extreme is anywhere

Shit, I wasn’t a “student-athlete”, but I didn’t go to a four year college to get an education. I went to get a piece of paper that said I got an education. Whether or not the classes are actually useful (and I’m sure the classes most scholarship D-1 athletes playing sports are not useful) is almost immaterial. That

Of course not, but “This System Makes Money For The Rich And Is Due For An Upheaval, But It Is Obviously Not Slavery” is not as catchy a headline as “NCAA Is Slavery”.

I literally forgot about him. That’s how awful the other candidates were. They interviewed a 20 year halftime analyst (albeit a very good one), who has never coached, and it was mundane. And, to be honest, I would probably have preferred him to someone like Jackson or Brown.

I honestly don’t take Kerr at his word there. I think that’s just as likely to be a nice thing he said for the sake of being nice. I mean, let’s say it wasn’t true... I could easily envision Kerr saying it all the same.
