While it would certainly be cool and interesting to see Hammon get a shot, I don’t think there’s much chance of that happening. As important as he is to that franchise, he’s not picking the next coach.

I think he overachieved with the Grizzlies last year. That was an old, slow team that made it to the playoffs in the West. He also took a step towards modernizing the Grizzlies to the current NBA. In comparison to the previous year under Joerger, they shot 52% more threes per game under Fizdale in 2016-17.

I assumed Budenholzer was never going to actually go to NY, and he was gonna get multiple teams asking for an interview. Certainly the Milwaukee job would be intriguing. I also wonder if he’d like to go back to San Antonio and wait for Pop’s retirement (which could be one year or five). But, yeah, I would have loved

Outside of maybe Budenholzer, this was by far the best option. I still think interviewing Mark Jackson, Mike Woodson, and Mike Brown should be fireable offenses for Mills and Perry, but they at least made the right choice when it came down to it.

Yeah, my payday is next friday. I’m never upset on those Fridays. But today I get to go to Happy Hour, so that’ll help. Hope your stories go well!

Yes we have. I may not agree with some things you say, but I respect your candor. It’s refreshing to see on the internet, where there is typically so little of that going around. Have a good day, bro.

That was a good comeback. I still think your original comment was completely out of bounds (or it was really good satire that went over my head), but, with no sarcasm, you got me with the comeback. That was well played.

Holy fuck, this was not a good comment.

Eh, she was the best hire of the three, but she’s still been pretty awful. She’s a rough listen. Carlin and Scott should never have been hired, and should be let go as soon as their contracts allow for it. Gray easily has the best potential of the three, and maybe has a future at the Fan if they found the right

I mean, it would only figure to be a Southern expression because Cotton grows well in the deep South. One can’t pick cotton in Indiana if there’s no cotton to be grown.

I’ve never used the phrase in serious conversation, and only associate it with old-timey Southern talk. No one actually thinks the announcer was being racist unless they are the sort of person who goes around looking for racism whether it’s there or not.

But why assume there was racial overtones? There almost certainly were not. Naturally, you ask him to please not use that phrase again, especially in the context of an NBA game, and move on. You can understand why that phrase makes people uncomfortable, but you can also understand why there is no logical reason to

Sure, that’s my point. It’s not racist, but it’s a term that’s best left in the past. Calling the announcer’s action “racist” is not appropriate, because he almost assuredly was not being racist. He was just using an idiom that likely wasn’t even aware could make black listeners uncomfortable. There’s nothing wrong

That’s a bad and racist thing to say

By no means am I assuming that the announcer was being racist, because not everything is racist, and assuming everything is just devalues actual racism. But, associating African Americans with “picking cotton” goes beyond slavery with the use of sharecropping well into the 20th century. They were “paid”, yes, but the

Your one is better, but a lot. The first one is just pandering, while yours is clever.

It’s a joke. He’s “all right” because he doesn’t have a left hand. I cited the show because I stole the joke from them. I phrased the joke with a faux-serious complaint. I’m rooting as hard for Griffin as anyone, and I hope this guy dominates at the NFL level because it’s an inspiring story.

Eh, take it easy Deadspin. You’re acting like this is the most incredible thing ever. Lots of players have run great 40 times and done nothing. I mean, sure, I’m not saying he’ll be awful in the NFL, but let’s not put him in the Hall-of-Fame just yet.

That’s exactly my point
