Oh, I get the logic, it’s just that every report I’ve read argues that the effects on restaurants and bars are smaller than most people believe (even for a well-attended stadium), and the overall effects on other industries are even more marginal.

The point of the arena deal and that wad of taxpayer cash was to “revitalize” a moribund downtown. That it’s taken a single home game (and that might even be generous) for the new car smell to wear off should encapsulate pretty neatly the scam of publicly financed stadiums.
I’m roughly the same age (1988).
Never saw it. I should though.
:(
I would say broader than that, and your criticism of over-generalization is a fair one. But, I’ll specifically answer each of those you listed
I’m a millennial, and I often feel like the comedies of the 1970s, 80s and early 90s don’t hold up. My Cousin Vinny is absolutely an exception to that. What a great movie.
“I just want mines period point blank”
Hernangomez was all-rookie first team. That doesn’t mean TOO much, and I’m sure you can see some names on previous lists that fizzled out completely, but he’s a pretty good player. Ntilikina is both very young and coming from Europe, so the learning curve will be steep, and a lot less was known about him than…
A lot of teams are wearing their regular jerseys just with matching pants. It’s working fine. The problems start when you start messing with the base uniforms, like what the Bucs end up wearing. Not that their regular uniforms are good either.
Burke is great on games, and this is as well-deserved. I’m sure some will akin to an affirmative action/PC hire, but, in my opinion, nothing could be farther from the truth. She’s one of the best on any network at basketball. I also happen to like Van Gundy, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
The left, while better behaved of late than the right, has rarely been more wrong than when they got outraged over the Keebler Elves tweet.
Oh, you’re right about that, most classic stadiums obviously can’t be given a reference in the former stadium’s name. When the Mets moved from Shea Stadium, the only way to honor Shea Stadium in the name was to literally call it that. Instead, the Mets moved to CitiField, and the best homage Mets fans got was the Shea…
Are those lower bowl?
Better center than centre.
Well, it’s a reference to the old stadium, Mile High Stadium, which many fans were upset about leaving (and upset about having to pay for the new one). So, while yes, the city is a mile high, but that doesn’t mean it has to come with the homage. It was put there to throw a bone to angry fans. Lars also referenced TD…
Thank you for making the joke I was too proud to make.
What’d I want to know (and it would be rather easy for me to find out, but I’m lazy) would be how well-attended Pistons games against fellow middling opponents have been the past couple years and how much were lower bowl tickets going for in this game. It’s possible they priced out fans, expecting huge demand for the…
I mean, they have Sports Authority Field at Mile High (formally Invesco Field at Mile High), so there is precedent to include an homage to the original stadium in naming a new stadium
What if he didn’t remember? When you apologize, you’re allowed to explain your side of things. You just can’t make it all about yourself (which he didn’t). Have you ever been accused of something, small or big, that you couldn’t remember doing? You have the right to explain that you don’t remember it at all, or don’t…
