I mean, no, I do not expect someone about to kill themselves because someone they loved has just died to think of anyone not directly involved. I think that falls outside normal expectations of behavior, but that’s me. That he bothered to even leave a note is more than I would have expected.

Seems more like he thought the world revolved around her, and his ended when she did. And one can easily see that if he made the decision to also kill himself, calling the authorities is pointless. They might only serve to stop him. People who really intend to kill themselves don’t tell people beforehand.
