I’m going to mimic Misanthrope’s position here; RE4 is an absolute treasure. It’s absolutely incredible how many ideas and concepts the game just throws at you with lightning speed. You mention mac n’ cheese, but that game’s like some kind of blind buffet; each scoop is something totally new.
I’m not saying it’s a great technique, but it makes sense in context. The events that cause Daisy to take the actions she did wouldn’t be viewable by the main characters at that moment. And I will say that Burial at Sea in general is pretty great and does a load to broaden the scope of the original game.
My brother is nuts for crazy Japanese games like this and he turned me on to Revengeance one night after a few beers. Looks incredibly hilariously cheesy (your juxtaposition of “Big Issues” vs “Senator Robot Crab” is apt) while also sufficiently challenging on an action level. It’s pretty high on my wishlist but I do…
Revengeance is a fun game to replay on a harder mode once you get comfortable in that first playthrough.
I never did finish an S-Rank playthrough though, because there is one spot in the sewers with a bonus battle against those spider things where I could. not. get. the camera to work with me, and kept getting cheap…
Salutations~!
Jesus, the Lordvessel in ten hours. I love seeing speedruns of these games, so I know it’s totally doable, but it felt like I took over ten of those just for Ornstein and Smough.
I did! https://www.avclub.com/wolfenstein-ii-the-new-colossus-is-as-subtle-as-punchi-1819865874
Agree to disagree, I guess. I found it intoxicating but brainless; pure wish-fulfillment.
The opposite reason is why I didn’t enjoy Bioshock Infinite all that much (another reason was only autosaving every like 45 minutes with no option for manual saving). They made the Vox Populi just as ridiculously violent and evil as Comstock and effectively both-sidesed the whole thing. “Yes, it’s horrible these…
Unusually varied week, so I’ll keep this as brief as possible:
So I went over to Saints Row 2 since I hadn’t played it in a while and found I was one mission away from the end, so I finally finished that one up. The last mission is actually sort of an improvement over the sheer impossible chaos of the final gang missions- it’s still tricky, but it’s reasonable, and when you get…
SpecialEffect are a UK charity that aim to help people with physical disabilities enjoy video games and they had a part in the development of this.
Interesting to see this retailing at $30 instead of the usual $60. I wouldn’t have pegged this as a budget release.
I was dumb enough to buy Destiny 2 at full price. I want to hurt that game, but I can never hurt it the way it hurt me.
I can see how others might derive enjoyment from Destiny 2, but I just don’t find the mechanics all that compelling. The shooting in particular feels weightless; there’s not enough heft to the weaponry. It feels like I’m playing laser tag.
Destiny is the biggest most mega successful game I never understand. Everyone who plays it is always complaining about it and nothing about it looks that fun. Why would you take the worst part of MMOs (the grinding and the loot chase) and put them in an FPS? Well, I mean we know why it’s to trigger that Skinner Box…
City of Brass looks right up my alley but I’ve been pretty good about not buying games when my backlog is the size of Mt Rainer. And I’m not putting a dent in it anytime soon because I barely have any time to play lately and I’m having too much fun playing God of War.
Yes, it’s easy to bounce off of Revengeance, as it is with most Platinum games, but once you figure out its gameplay it’s an absolute blast. And full of the requisite Platinum insanity, mixed with Metal Gear insanity, just.... yum.
Well it’s a lot nicer now it isn’t covered in 14 inches of snow.
Well I’m from Enfield, so I’m still not convinced that any of South London is real.
