Little lightning bolts fly out of the pointy ends. Everybody knows that.

It really depends on your bubble. For example, I’ve seen every show listed above but I’m not sure if Ray Donovan is a person or a TV show, or if I even spelled that surname correctly; I couldn’t name a single 60 Minutes journalist; and Top 40 music is an inscrutable mess to my ears.

Agree, but it’s the media and the people in it who certainly know of The Handmaid’s Tale, and this protest- visually striking and culturally of the moment- would be like catnip for them to disseminate widely. Which is what happened, and it was a clever and theatrical protest that got tons of attention online. The

The inevitable Juggalo-Neo-Nazi riot will be the defining event of 2017. It may not be the biggest, but it really encapsulates where we are as a people

I don’t think most people really want to be challenged by television, and that’s fine. If your free time is very limited taking on a show like The Americans isn’t going to happen. If you just watch TV to relax a little in the hour you have free after work and other obligations you’re not going to pick up a downer like

the DSA’s support of the Juggalos does seem to be sincere,

Fuckin’ freedom of association, how does it work?

Clearly asexuals are people towards whom you’re incapable of feeling any empathy. That only reflects poorly on you. The irony here is that your 2nd comment is the answer to your 1st question.

Todd’s sexuality would be exactly as limiting in terms of stories they could tell about him if he was straight. The idea that straight is the default and alternatives take up narrative space is a common one online, and it never makes sense to me.

You’d never see anyone saying “I wish they weren’t focusing on Princess

As pretty clearly discussed in an episode, ace =/= aromantic. Ace people don’t necessarily not want romantic relationships. He can have a love interest even if he’s ace—the two identities aren’t the same thing.

I wouldn’t say they’re “persecuted” but considering I’ve literally never seen a storyline about an asexual person on TV before I’d at least say they could use some more representation. I don’t think every Todd storyline needs to be about how he’s asexual, but it’s a nice character detail and I’m glad they gave it some

Ace representation is important but crazy schemes are also very important.

“You don’t like sex? What is wrong with you???”

Nancy brought her along exactly for that purpose, and Steve was a top shelf dirtbag. The fact that she ends up with him at the end is disturbing.

Because she’s unattractive, unpopular and largely ignored and therefore the interwebz related most to her character.

I think the fact that Barb resonated so much with so many viewers despite her slight (but affecting) storyline is a credit to what the perfectly cast Shannon Purser brought to the character. Also I think that she doesn’t look like every other female character on TV (a curvy ginger that is nerdy but stylish and

Barb’s death was pretty much ignored by every character in the show. The show’s fans started to demand “justice for Barb” to compensate for how glossed-over her character was.

Yeah, and I like these kids. I know this is going to sound crazy, but I’d prefer they have a normal (or normal-ish) childhood instead of giving me 5 more seasons of this show.

Heh. I had the exact same reaction to Arrested Development. Actually watched the first five or so episodes when they aired, and decided the show was too into its own cleverness to bother being funny. Then I went back and rewatched it almost exactly a decade later and loved it.
