Hey, Randall:
Hey, Randall:
There’s German word for “Liking the idea of something but disliking the thing itself”, and it’s “Kidding”.
This really doesn’t sound any better than the fake ending on Wikipedia. Not sure I want to see Brad and Leo murder some teenaged girls.
It’s not the second best (Sopranos is, with The Wire at #1, duh), but it’s easily in the running for top 10 and you should definitely check it out. Keep in mind that the first season is much more polarising than the second and third ones.
Meh, whatever. I don’t care for Lindelof, care less for non-Moore Watchmen material, and don’t deify Alan Moore. The original work stands on its own, and that's what I'll always favor.
oh, gwen, you over-sold this, hon.
He just said he doesn’t like it. If some random dork on the internet is going to put his opinion on Watchmen out there I’m not sure why the creator shouldn’t.
That “Bizzaro zombie apocalypse survivors” bit was done in Shaun of the Dead.
The point was...that her time is kinda up for movies, she needs to find a TV show and do that for awhile.
Hopefully Hickman can stay on the book for several years to develop a sense of continuity. That was Claremont’s greatest strength when he wrote the book: he knew the characters because he’d written them for so long. Seems like these days writers get changed out too quickly, and the characters suffer as a result. I’m…
The A.V. Club
Yeah. As horrific as the scene itself was, the way utter lack of respect Ennis showed towards Starlight afterwards was gross. Although not surprising as he didn’t seem to be interested at all in her. She was just there to be example of superheroes destroying sweet things, give him another opportunity to lash out at…
When they showed Starlight walking in to that room, I groaned as I really hope they don’t keep that part of the comic. It was just... The way the comic handled that whole sequence and storyline was just Ennis being too much himself.
If the showrunners can take the good idea at the core of this story and moderate Ennis’ edgelord tendencies (and irrational hatred of superheroes), this could be an improvement on the original.
I loved her work on Giant Days, definitely checking this out!
You can actually make it bigger!
Exec 1: How the hell are we going to market this movie?
Exec 2: Better put “SATIRE” in big red letters in the trailer.
I’ve not been able to get into the new Dragonball stuff myself but did recently pick up That Time I Got Reincarnated As Yamcha by dragongarow Lee, if you’ve not read it it's a one off manga that revists Toriyama’s Dragonball and is a lot of fun while still somehow feeling faithful to original.
I now I’m insane but I still haven’t forgotten Lindelof fort the last season of Lost. Never will.
I think the point of the character was to empathize with him but not sympathize with his views. I just get annoyed when people don’t understand that and think they’re supposed to do both.
