Pfft, he’s rich. One straight guy to another, I’d marry him. I’d be a trophy husband!

I mean, I’ll give the cliche line and say it would be better to just not make it at all and put the money into a new sci-fi venture, but if it was getting made either way, I think the Wachowski was a detriment.

I don’t hate the idea of dark batman. Some of my favorite versions (The Dark Knight (2008), Year One, Long Halloween, etc.) are incredibly grim in tone and story.

I mean, if that’s true, it’s not born out at all by this film which feels not at all like an art film, but like a sloppily made studio piece to its core.

I felt like the bigger loss was Hugo Weaving. Groff really didn’t work and their plotline really only works with Weaving returning.

Also, I really don’t understand I Think You Should Leave. Not that it’s bad, it just totally doesn’t work for me. I don’t find it funny and do find it grating but so many really great critics and viewers love it. I feel like I’m legitimately just not on the right wavelength.

To be fair, the writing on Arcane isn’t half bad either. The visuals alone wouldn’t have kept me going. It’s not going to blow anyone’s mind, likely, but it made me care and I’d like more.

I really think Arcane deserved a spot.

I’m not sure you can call it a cheap shot if the film itself implies this as strongly as this reviewer and others are saying. It’s possible for a creator to be of two minds about their own work (i.e. Trinity and Neo could be incredibly comforting figures...in a movie Lana really didn’t want to make).

Ugh, this must be worse for her than rain on her wedding day.

Especially odd considering many of the criticisms involve the idea that Zhao’s style does indeed come through, but fits very poorly with the Marvel story being told.

I’m very lonely. I’m not sure I’m quite lonely enough to appear on a show like that.

Before seeing this movie I was impotent but through the sheer beauty of the projected images in this film, I was cured. That said, it wasn’t the right message for the pandemic age.”’

The AVC system is to always grade one letter grade lower than the tone of the review would imply. You get used to it.

This looks like exactly the same style and quality as Venom. Not sure that’s a good thing but points for consistency.

Bruce Campbell really was a perfect cast there too.

One of my favorite moments is where he refuses to take credit for his wife finding the key piece of evidence. No one would know, but it’s so obvious that his ego comes second to his love of his wife. Gah, that season is so damn good.

Fargo Season Two has him being great and distinct. He doesn’t look distinct, but in the right role, the man is fantastic and memorable.
