So I’m a sucker for single camera ensemble sitcoms. I’ve seen Friends, Scrubs, Parks and Rec, Frasier, Seinfeld, HIMYM, and many others many times and overlooked the flaws (where there are flaws, especially in Friends and HIMYM). But I just cannot make myself enjoy New Girl. The characters are elastic and written

Hmm, trailer sort of confirms that Cuoco doesn’t have the acting chops for this, but maybe it’s unfair to judge.

I don’t know that I fully agree. Inarguably, it’s not got a lot to do with the themes or characters of the first film but DH3 feels like DH because of McTiernan’s direction. DH2 is just a very hollow recreation of the first one. I suppose it depends on what you want in a sequel but I’d hold that DH3 is the only other

Thesis confirmed: science denies the existence of Hubie Halloween.

But this would imply that Die Hard 2 is better than Die Hard with a Vengeance which, as we all know, is nonsense.

an incel’s wet dream

I’m told the original is a shot-for-shot identical film.

It got across the idea, better than anything else I’ve seen, of how nihilistically and emotionally terrible being a victim in a horror movie would be, where it’s not just that things are happening to you randomly, but that you’re being targeted for the entertainment of beings you can’t fathom or effect. I know horror

I don’t know if Funny Games scared me, but the scene after the death of the son where the husband and wife try to make sense of their grief before the plot keeps going is one of the most shockingly raw things I’ve ever seen. I think that scene has made it impossible for me to take any joy from slasher pics going

Short answer: no probably not. I’ll be happy to be proven wrong, but I don’t see it happening. Worse yet, it could happen but feel like an unearned twist as the show has forged its own identity (see Game of Thrones Khaleesi)

I love this comment deeply.

Sophia Lillis was, in the first It at least, the clear standout. I like her a lot and am glad to see her keep cropping up.

Would the joke wear thin after about a half hour? Yes. Would I still watch a full two hours of this Ken Burns’ series. Damn straight.

No, I’m sacrosanct and off limits. I’m a sacred cow of sorts.

Plus, since he brings up self-esteem, it seems like a near impossible task to try to build that when you fundamentally think nothing means anything. Virtue, worth, beauty, and grace go right out the window.

Which is sad. I know some people embrace it but I think it’s really unhealthy. But again, none of my business except where it touches on me directly.

Heh, I’m the one who upvoted that out of the grays though. It’s not every day someone predicts exactly what you’re going to accomplish in life.

I know this is anathema but have you tried adblock plus?

Eh, see below. He didn’t come off as a dick exactly, just fragile and burnt out. I think perhaps the nihilism that underlies his shows is a part of him.
