I would tend to agree, but “Enjoyed a secret boob viewing at an audition today,” is troubling if there’s any veracity to it. It puts the studio in the position of tacitly supporting someone who may have done something (unethical? Immoral? Creepy? Illegal? I don’t honestly know).

100% true (I’m from a rural area and can verify most of that). But the idea that only hunters had guns at any point in American history is laughably made up.

Seems like a solid move. While its slapstick nature seems pretty harmless, guns in media being portrayed as having real consequences probably can’t hurt anything.

“I can actually remember when the only people who owned guns were hunters.”

Uncut Gems was a better investigation of masculinity and insanity of one man in a big city.

Also, if you were going to assign some of the blame for these protests on something other than racism (which I wouldn’t advise doing). Why go for a movie and not the pandemic that has had everyone stressed out, frustrated, and isolated for months?

Right? Despite being around 40 years old, both Taxi Driver and King of Comedy that Joker ‘tributed’ have a lot more of relevance to say about mental health and society.

I’m still amazed by just how toothless that movie was. It’s stuck with me very little and does not feel like a ‘controversial cultural touchstone’.

Perhaps, but I definitely thought that Ego’s review at the end is intended to be about film-making as much as it is about cooking.

I dislike memes that adopt proper names too. I’ve got a weird first name so it’ll never come to me, but I feel bad for all the Chads, Beckys, and Karens out there who have to feel bad about their names for no good reason.

Interestingly, I feel like Birdman’s position on critics and criticism is a lot less nuanced than the one in Ratatouille. I remember at the time feeling the critic in Birdman was a much more two-dimensional villain and that Inarritu didn’t have the respect for legitimate criticism that Bird seems to have.

For me this may well be Pixar’s most underrated film. While Bug’s Life is better than it’s given credit for, Ratatouille is a legitimate masterpiece and one of my best theater-going experiences.

I disagree about that point of view on Bird which I think is hugely reductive. Ratatouille for example is a movie less about entitlement than it is about talent. Remy isn’t entitled to anything, but he is talented and ultimately the events of the movie stem from that.

Also, terms like ‘karenesque’ seem hugely

Am I a perv and/or old fuddy-duddy if I think that costume looks super objectifying and it doesn’t help how young she appears.?

I know, the googling was for comedic effect.

Those execs also butchered X-men Origins Wolverine!

More importantly, Fargo Season Two in which she was brilliant.

Wait, why’s Fallon the one in trouble? Shouldn’t this fall on the execs, writers, showrunner, and station who encouraged and payed for it?

I love the comic (one of Rucka’s recent best), but despite him working on the screenplay, this looks a lot more dull. Part of what worked so well in the book was that the violence was never glorified despite the character’s numbness to it. Instead it was suffused with the sort of Melancholy of something like Tuck

I’m of the mind that this didn’t work. It might have if Rick and Morty wasn’t already so at pains to be meta, but like some of the experimentation in latter day Community, it ultimately feels like wheel-spinning where I’d opt for funnier, more cliched stories over ‘bold new takes’ on fiction. For example, yes, I see
