Maybe it is an issue of different steel with a different range of operating temps? I grew up in MT and can remember at least a couple derailments caused by extreme heat in the summer screwing with the tracks, but I don’t remember ever hearing about issues with cold.

Even if they are running a special, you should always have financing arranged before you show up. Your bank can usually give you a quote even without a specific car. Maybe the dealer can give you better financing or maybe they can’t, but it gives you one more chip on the table when you’re negotiating.

Not to mention, he WAS offered a long-term contract. I’m not sure what the guaranteed money looked like though.
