This would be even more amazing if there was a bonus if the gym was themed! Say, no motivation loss if you got the whole eevee team in there, or the pokemon gain a few extra CP if they’re all the same type, there’s some more potential here Niantic should look at to further encourage this!

Actual cheaters should get banned. Using a map from a third-party site shouldn’t be able to get any sort of ban (your friend told you, how would Niantic know which case it is). Any client accessing your account is a no-no though.
