You know that’s right.

My suspicion is that he’ll be trying to deconstruct people’s expectations for how things should be, *or* he’ll just give up on it being 3 days = 3 books.

I wouldn’t say the second book is wretched; I think Rothfuss’s actual prose is almost poetic at times (each book has just a handful of passages that stand out as clangingly bad). I even liked the second book more than the first on first read; it’s only on subsequent re-reads that I found myself really rolling my eyes…

He’s not nearly so insufferable in the first book as the second. 

“Now the story of a wealthy family who lost everything, including their lives, And the one son who had no choice but to speak at their funeral. It’s Arrested Development.”

That’d be a bit of a stretch, but it’s a nice change of pace. I think his reaction to the acid was so over the top that it shows how quickly he would be tiresome as a main character.

Nothing wrong with the casting of Ra’s Al Ghul. The trouble with his arc was the writing and pacing.
