I think there’s probably been a conscious decision within the campaign to never use his last name, not just because it bugs the shit out of him, but because it separates him in the eyes of the voters from his “brand” which is really his only selling point. See also why H’s surrogates never use his name at all. It’s

So true. I noticed it in the first debate that she was calling him Donald and it was brilliant. His dimwit surrogates call him not just Mr. Trump— sometimes they go all the way to Mr. Donald Trump, or Mr. Donald J. Trump. Like in a sentence. It’s ridiculous.

I am actually ok with her needling him by calling him Donald for three reasons. First, during the primary no one could deal with him on the debate stage. I mean, he was an idiot and a bully but he was an idiot and a bully who was running that table. Hillary, perhaps because of her needling or perhaps because he can’t

I’ve been wondering about that. It’s been really striking during the debates that she has never called him “Mr. Trump” and he’s never called her “Secretary Clinton.” A small thing that has just made the whole process a little more ugly.

he hates (for some reason) being called Donald.

He calls her Hillary to her face and Crooked Hillary everywhere else. I think, given that, if she referred to him as Mr. Trump it would come off as just weird.

I’m so old that I remember when it was a scandal when Jimmy Carter first agreed to be interviewed by Playboy magazine, then said that while he had never cheated on his wife, he had ‘lusted in his heart’ for other women.

I totally agree. Also, Hillary knew how to address the luminaries in the crowd, & how to praise the mission of the event. He was just outclassed on every level. (I am unsuprised by this. I just like saying it, since he thinks “sprayed with gold leaf” = classy.)

Idk. Something tells me on the 9th he’ll be all “Haha, I GAVE it to her. She should be grateful. I have way more important things to do like relax in my BIG BEAUTIFUL EXPENSIVE home, with my gorgeous wife. I was never really interested. My goal was to prove that our political system is corrupt, and I did.”

Don’t feel sorry for Donald. I’ve followed his antics since the 70's and any humiliation he suffers now is karma that is long overdue.

The issue of simple grace you bring up is HUGE. Never has he shown any, and it’s why he’s increasingly not being shown any. In what is supposed to be a friendly, joking dinner to show that opponents can still get along, he took the lowest road possible by directly saying that his opponent hated the people at the

Never thought I would miss Mitt Romney.

Just like at the debate, Donald started off appropriately enough and then absolutely cratered. In a room that should have been more friendly to Trump than most (a bunch of mostly monied conservative religious folks), he couldn’t but help but say something totally inappropriate and nasty about Hillary Clinton, and the

If she’s able to collect a paycheck from that turd, that is a talent.

Nonsense! It will be remembered as the year Justice Scalia died and our first lady president was elected!

How about “The Octoroons”? Just as racist, but more melodic .

Our history books should drink as much as I have this year. That way, like me, they won’t remember much of it at all.

2016 will not be remembered kindly by our history books.

Sure, why not. I’m at the point in this election where I’ll believe six impossible things before breakfast, and hey, it’s afternoon.

They rehearsed her lines while they stood in the booth getting sprayed together, holding bronze hands.
