I don’t often comment but I saw this news earlier and read up on his story (I was unfamiliar), and it just made me so heartbroken and angry. Talk about being dealt a shit hand, this kid deserved so much better than what life handed him.

I had a chance to meet this extraordinary young man and his mother years ago at his family’s restaurant here in Gary. He was working behind the counter, and we chatted about his love of cooking. Just an incredibly sweet kid. May he rest in peace, reunited with his mom.

It’s heartbreaking how much he had to bear in his short life. May he rest in peace.
