You're being generous. The author of this particular op-ed pretty much showed (their?) hand when they included "stop taking lovers" along with their message. That aside, it was obviously published as PR for father's day, possibly without considering the creepy implications.

If anything this is an even worse spin on the "women need to be more vigilant about protecting themselves in public". By all means, let's just regress to encouraging women to be socially and economically dependent on men, or else! (Not enough vomit gifs available)

Men being stronger and faster on average than women isn't a construct. Even if rape and sexual assault isn't always committed against the weaker by the stronger, the strength differential has always had a profound impact on how the sexes interact generally, individual variations notwithstanding.
